  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc New WR125 owner looking for advice!

GJW

Husqvarna
Hi guys,

Great forum, wondered if you could give me some advice?

Bought Wr125 this week & am looking for your help and advice regarding pre-mixing & running the bike in.
The dealer recommended 40% mix while running the bike in & 30% once it has been run in. From the manual, this doesn't seem right - looks the other way around. Can you mix directly in to the tank, or should you pre-mix in a separate container at all times?

What is your advice on running the bike in regarding the mileage covered, or so many hours riding?

Should you use premium fuel, or can you use regular?

The dealer gave me motorex premix, not the most expensive, at £12.00, but there was a more expensive one at £18.00 for 1 litre, any recommendations?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry can't find the edit button.
I made a mistake on the ratios and oil brand.
Should be 1:30 or 1:40.
Oil is Putoline MX5 pre-mix.

I think that they said 4% and then 3% oil
According to my manual its Mix at 25 to 1 running in and 33 to 1 after that ( fuel to oil) . So for 10 litres = 400mil of oil at 25 to one
Some run at 40 to 1
Mix in a can. Use a measuring bottle. Oil is up to you - if you are not racing it it shouldnt make too much difference IMO.

Thanks for your help:)

Followed the manual, as you suggested, used Mix at 25 to 1. Bought 10 litre fuel can & a measuring bottle which I have used to premix, using the Putoline MX5 oil.

Took the bike out for the first time, after fuelling, but it continually cuts out and oil is leaking from the join between the muffler and exhaust pipe. Can't believe that this is normal:confused:

Thanks again for your advice.

Not an expert but the few top ends I've done I just ran 32:1. Theyve held up fine.

As for mixing gas I always do so in a Jerry can

Thanks for the advice. Managed to mix with a Jerry can as you do too. Only problem now is that bike keeps cutting out when I'm on the road & is leaking oil. Not sure if it has been setup properly at the garage, as it is brand new.

Hi,
Been running my 2008 WR125 on 40-1 using Putaline MX7 for the lst 3 year with no prob's at all...
(i haven't used any different mixtures when I've put my annual new piston/rings either)

When you say it's leaking oil, are you sure it's oil or is it the black "spooge" which dribbles out the back and runs down the exhaust when not run at correct mixture...?
My WR does it too because i do a lot of races in the forests where i live so spend a lot of time not opening the throttle enough.
If so it might be just a case of looking at adjusting your jetting for the type of riding/conditions/altitude you ride at... or do as i do and just clean it off after every ride ;-)
Hope that helps...
