  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

FE/FC New video of 2015 FE501

Nice evening ride after work with friends. With 7 hours on the 501 now and wanting to ride it everyday it's so much fun. Just installed Hammerhead shift lever and rear brake lever, what a difference as I went 15mm longer on the shift lever and it fits my foot (riding boots really) much better now. I'm putting on some bar risers and FMF header next. Hands down this is the best bike I've owned for smiles per mile.

Nice video. Thanks for posting. What shift lever model did you go with? Mines bent a bit and with size 14's I could benefit from a long stronger version. I installed the 7602 brake tip which extends the pedal 10mm and that helps a bit. If I bend the brake lever i'll replace it with the hammerhead.

Thank you. I bought part number 01-0763-08-60 direct from Hammerheads website. Black with a black +15mm knurled tip. Easy to install and I can shift faster due to not having to search and wedge my foot between the peg and stock shift lever length.

Nice video looks like great riding area! How much would you estimate as top speed on your fc501 Guy on other site said his stock bike does near 200kph? And how does it compare with the ktm 500 ? Thanks

my 2014 will pull 105mph with plenty left. I just chickened out. I was off road and got spooked. 13/49 gearing. Gps verified afterwards. Things get really blurry at that speed.

I ordered one Thursday but they are back ordered until May. I'm not in a huge hurry so I'll wait. My OEM shifter is pretty deformed but it still works. It'll be nice having a longer one with these water ski feet of mine...

reveille, I just got a hammer head billet lever with a +15mm tip in blue delivered a few days ago. They have them unless your dying for a black tip on the black lever for some reason. Get the KTM hexed head thick shouldered bolt also. Its black to match the billet shifter lever and its predrilled to easily be safetied . It costs like 6 bucks.

I didn't see the blue as a choice. I'm talking gear shift lever BTW. Forget it I found them. I cancelled my order and ordered a blue black one. Where did you get the bolt from?

Edit, I'm a dumbas$ I found it. Thanks, the bolt looks good too.

That's what I meant Shifter lever.
I already had the hammer head replacement brake pedal tip in blue with set screw type cleats.
Also to protect the case from the brake pedal. I got a nice billet "STR" (System Tech Racing) part #49690 machined clutch cover guard in blue. Its beefy and just protects the lower section of the case to keep the brake pedal from knocking a hole in the cover in the event of a spill. I got it from Slavins racing. Or you can buy them direct. It's profile milled uses 2 of the existing lower clutch cover case screws to mount to and is a really nice piece.

So Timmy, how close does the extended brake thingy come to your header? I had one on order but backed out since I was worried about the heat transfer.

I couldn't tell you how close that would be. I have one on my G450X which is for an identical Brembo Master cylinder. I may swap it out to my new Husky and put the stock cap back on my G450.

My new bike is on a semi truck coming to AZ still. It just left a Roadrunner freight Seattle Terminal yesterday.

Can't figure out why it would be going North from Salem Oregon, To Seattle Washington first then on to Phoenix, and then even further down 120 miles south of Tucson where I'm at.

I'm dying to get this thing.

Parts and pieces are piled up just waiting. It may not get it delivered until the 10th but it is on the way and I'm tracking it.
Plenty of time to do research and shop for goodies for it and read the Husqvarna Repair CD I got the other day.

It'll be my 56 year old Birthday present to myself, all assembled I hope by that day which is April 16th.
I'll be busy bolting parts on this thing for more than a few days I'm sure. Glad I work 4 - 10s and have 3 days off each week.

If you love it half as much as I do you'll be overwhelmed. It's a keeper. Mines a non S model since I can plate them here so thankfully I avoided the overly lean decel popping chocked out S version. Being as there is a PC5 I guess it's all good now with the S models.

You're a bad influence Timmy... I almost bought the case saver on top of a bunch of other stuff. I ordered a tubliss for my rear wheel since I either have to add a second rim lock or a tubliss to stop spinning the tire(went tubliss). This bike has some serious power and my one rimlock ain't cutting it. My front will stay with a heavy tube and a fatty since low pressure isn't a plus with the fatty. I went for some Motul 600 fluid and the hard parts Husky reservoir extension.

Mine is not the "S" model either. I've been told I'm a bad influence before. I never leave anything alone, I can't stand stock stuff even if it is perfectly functional. Its just not me. When the bike gets here this week I have to install the Sicass lighting switch kit and map switch too but no big deal here to get it plated. Along with all the other stuff before I even go out and ride it. If I'm dying to ride before that I'll take my other bike out for a good beating.

I just seconds ago went with the Tubliss system for both the front and rear. $77.00 a piece for front and rear, 155.00 total shipped at "Phat performance". I've bought Motoz tires from them before and got the best deal I could find anywhere else.

So my rear brake reservoir extension came in and I installed it tonight along with some Motul 600 fluid with a good flush and bleed. Pretty...LOL Sorry to the OP and the derail.
