    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

New TR650 Terra, running it in and already loving it!

I recently purchased a new TR 650 here in Aus, after borrowing a mates Terra for a full weekends test ride through the hills and also on straight roads. Even though I am still runnning it in (about 650k's on the clock) I am already really loving this bike! Have fitted the genuine Bash plate and rear rack with bag, and just fitted radgaurd radiator guard and a few Altrider goodies thanks to info on this forum. So a big thanks to all who have contributed so far , it makes getting set up on the Terra much easier and alot more fun. I'm sure I will ad afew more bits nd pices over the next few months.

Having ridden and owned LOTS of bikes over the years from race bikes to nakeds to sport tourers , I've gotta say this is the most versatile and fun bike I have owned already, and great value for money. And 300k's to reserve. I'm looking forward to finishing the run in so I can wind it up a bit more, and plan make a few small upgrades to the bike along the way along the way based on some of what I have read on cafehusky.com. Look forward to seeing a few of you on Aussie roads and hearing more about everyones experiences with the TR 650 Terra!!

There are lots of roos near where I live, and I head to those places often for an after-work ride in the twilight (which is when they are active and out to feed). Unfortunately, they fall into two groups, either too stupid to notice there's something coming and jumping out on the road right in front of the bike, or timid and hopping off into the distance when I try and get a photo of them near the bike.
 
I didn't realize roos would be such a problem. The deer out here sometime jump out, not too much. My last ride I saw four small deer in two separate spots, not going fast and they disappeared when they heard me coming. I did a quick search for pic and found this.

I do not wish this on the roos or the bikes. Drive safe. We have deer whistles, does something like that work on roos?

Roos are a problem for riders just about anywhere in Australia. Generally the further out of the cities you get, the more kangaroos. Generally along the eastern coast where most people live, we have mostly Eastern Grey kangaroos, which are generally smaller, about the same size as the one in that video, but larger ones can stand 4 or 5 ft high, and some larger varieties stand up to 6ft and taller. Other places you go there are emus, which are fewer than roos, but those buggers run fast, up to 60kph, and they can change direction without warning, and in an instant, so an emu running along the road can turn 90 degrees and be in the centre of the road in a second. They're not too stupid to run out in front of a vehicle either, and usually do much more damage to a bike and rider than a roo.

I suspect the dear whistles you have are the same as roo whistles they sell here. They sell a lot of them, but there's no actual evidence that they actually do anything. Most people who drive in areas with lots of roos will put a good bullbar on their car. Still doesn't stop the stupid buggers from hopping into the side of the moving car though...
 
Coming back on track, enjoy your Terra, it gets better with more miles, cruises at 80mph no problem, had a new seat fitted last week and must say its a lot better than standard but still not as comfy as my GS seat made by Sargent!
 
Picked up the TR Friday, put around 150 mile on her. So far I really like the bike, seams lighter then I thought it would. Can't wait to get into the upper RPM's.
