  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

New to the TE310

Hello Gents,

I purchased a new 2012 TE310 yesterday and was shocked riding it home on the short stint from the dealership. The bike was incapable of reaching the posted speed limit of 65 mph, only reving to 6,000 ish RPM. When I asked the dealership about the poor performance they indicated that due to emissions regulations here in CA, there was a throttle stop installed. Needless to say, that needs to go. For the last few days (before my purchase) I have been reading through the posts about what I should do to improve the bike's performance and have found your posts very helpful and convinced reenter the off-road word (at 53 I'm not getting any youger!).
So far I gather that I need to:
1) remove the throttle stop - but I'd like to see photos and/or a video of how to do it. I did see a photo of a 510, so I'm gussing it's similar. Can anyone assist with how to do it on a 2012 TE310?
2) remove the charcoal canister - I think I can handle that
3) remove the oxigen sensor - is this essential? If so, how do I plug the hole and will a reflash of the ECU be necessary - if so who can do it? My dealership indicated that they wont mess with emission issues.
4) I'll remove the air filter restictor. Is it best to replace it with one for a TXC310?

Thanks in advance to anyone willing to help! I'm in Thousand Oaks CA and can travel to shops in the area that are experienced in getting the bike up to speed. I'm anxious to get the bike going!!

The fix if I remember right was txc injector and ECU. I don't think the new ECU would matter though if you get a power commander. Then you could download other peoples maps. I'd give Zip Ty racing a call they're somewhere in CA and probably worth the trip because they supposedly have a better hourly rate. They are definately the Husky experts, motor or suspension. I don't know if you'll ever be happy with it on the street because of the close ratio transmission. Good luck.

hhonda of redlands did a great job on mine

Thanks guys. I just took off the throtle stop and it made quite a difference! I plan to reide it a bit in this configuration then do the air filter housing and removal of the oxygen sensor. I'd like to do the injector (12 hole) and ecu as well. Must I wait to do the oxygen sensor until I do the injector and ecu?

I had my pipe unrestricted and throttle stop taken off and the airfilter cage put in at first and it had a flat spot when taking off , and I had trouble getting it going again after I would shut it off after riding it awhile , then I took it to Honda of Redlands in Redlands Ca and it was a different bike when I got it back , these guys were awesome , took awhile for the parts to come in , the power up parts ECU 12 hole injector , o2 senser parts and so on but I got it back dialed in and couldn t be happier, also have heard really good things about Zip Ty in the high desert , good luck.
