• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Having swapped my KTM for the Husky I have been told that it is a good idea to grind down the little "blobs" behind the footpeg plates to get a flat fit to avoid damaging/bending the bolts. Anybody felt the need to do this?

Also, what front and rear sprokets do you guys use? I am not a fast rider offroad and am looking for something that gives decent engine braking down steep rocks. I would appreciate some thoughts here.

I've got the stock front sprocket ( 15?) and went up 2 in the rear. It's a better compromise in my opinion. Definitely pulls better, putts better in the technical, and will still cruise 70mph without too high revs. The stock gearing had me never using 6th.

Not sure about the footpeg blobs but this site has good info on upgrades to this bike. Suspension, tuners, kickstand fixes, and subframe fixes. Enjoy that TE.

I went up three in the back, and it's still fine on the road, and better on the trail. Still, the idle and very low speed is a bit much in my opinion but there is enough power to pull you thru most things at low rpm. Up in the Rockies, or anywhere doing steep long roads with large rocks, I would like lower gearing not for power but for low speed control. 'Can't have it all!

As for pegs, get the Pivot Pegs. I had to trim one side to let it fold up (brake side I think) but a couple of minutes with a grinder and cut-off wheel made it perfect. Much more comfortable than the stock pegs.
