  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

new TE449 owner

Anyone have an idea where I can get a pipe guard for my FMF megabomb? I looked around but can't find a listing for this bike.

Update on order placed with P3: After requesting my money back I got an email the next day from Eric! To his credit he said he is swamped and was sorry for the delay. I can deal with that. Ended up getting the Husky aluminum heat shield from my dealer..$29. Not a P3 by any means but works great.

I emailed last week asking how backlogged he was, no response.

I ordered two UNI filters yesterday, they had the correct part# at the shop.

I installed the full FMF exhaust and JD 6X I bought used (Zomz?) yesterday. Huge difference, little on the loud side but I'll try to get a DB killer insert.

Ive ordered a fmf power bomb and am looking to connect it to the standard but decatted Akra muffler. If you could answer these questions it would be very much appreciate. What rear drive sprocket and what are your jd tuner settings?

Well I'm not sure I'll be too much help right now, the tuner was bought used and I am using the settings the previous owner chose. The sprockets are stock, I may go up two teeth in the rear. When I figure out how to extract the JD box settings I'll post them up.

I emailed EFM again to be sure they could make my clutch an auto-clutch. They said they've done a few BMW 450x's and the te449 shouldn't be a problem. I'm going away (riding) in about a month, not sure if I'll send the clutch out before or after.

Yesterday I ordered
tires/tubes
handlebars/grips
mount for my Scotts damper
foot pegs
skid plate
hand guards
and I'm sending the suspension to Factory Connection this week.

Burn ham how's the power now with the exhaust and header? Still going the supermoto route? Looks like your dumping money into it hopefully I'll see you running in the woods with it.

The power is great with the exhaust, for the woods I think it's probably going to be perfect. Not sure when I'll get the supermoto rims, for right now I'm going to use the bike in the woods.

Someones going to have to put a 449 with an fmf and jd tuner on a dyno comparing it against a stock 449. so burnham, im waiting for my fmf system to arrive but have jd tuner id say you go first with the dyno test and we'll see how a US 449 compares to a UK 449.

Here is my TE511 on JD dyno. Blue is stock, with race map. As you cans ee it will not rev past about 75mph stock as it runs out of fuel. The red is with a uncorked muffler, stock header, race map and JD tuner optimized. Huge difference in power on the Dyno and on the street. Very noticeable.

Motosportz, sounds good but i cant see the picture of that dyno result. You do know there is snobbery around being a 449 owner, the 511 just doesnt cut it with the 449 pro riders.....only joking.....see if you can reload your dyno image

I haven't been on the boards for a while so I've lost track of the status of the newer model Huskys (449 + 511), is there general consensus that these are superior to the 2009/10 TE 450s and 510s at this point? I know when they first came out there was a lot of grumbling about lack of power and some issues with turn in. Also, any change at all from 2011 to 2012? Now that it is spring we are looking to get some new dirt bikes and the three 2010 SM510Rs we have in the garage are going to stay for supermoto / street duty so would love to hear some new opinions on the 449/511s now that people have more seat time.

I really like the new 449/511, just a great accomidating bike. Had a 08 TXC450 I loved, like this a bit better. Feels lighter, like the EFI, narrow feeling, better in the single track, just a great do it all bike IMHO.

Link now works. Making some good power your 511 with that pipe and jd. Are you running with the stock manifold or the power bomb would there be more power to come i wonder?

I emailed EFM again to be sure they could make my clutch an auto-clutch.

Just curious---they take your stock parts and do a conversion instead of all new parts? I ask since I run brand X auto clutch on brand X bike and really like this mod a lot.

Appreciate it. Thanks. Will do some searches to get some more opinions but seems to be the way to go.
