  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

New TE 499 Boo Yeah

I bought that fmf power bomb but i couldnt fit it because there was no exhaust clamp to the fit it to the engine. The power bomb from the tc449 appeared to be only fitted using springs. Do you have a photo of where the power bomb fits to the engine and how you fitted it.by the nice looking bike if you dont mind me saying.
you have to get the mount from a tc449 where the header bolts to the engine.IMG_1615.JPGIMG_1616.JPG

What power gains have u noticed in real terms for example does the bike power to wheelie in fourth gear without using the clutch, and what gearing do you have ive 14front 51rear. If youve a dyno chart comparing your bike in stock trim then with the full fmf that would answer more then just me why a full fmf, or akra system is a good buy?

i have whatever gearing comes stock on it but i have noticed a huge difference in low end power everygear can pop power wheelies on it too.

Hi im running standard huge Husky pipe does the injection automatically adjust to this. Race map is pluged in but bike definately feels restricted wondering wether to try and remove the cat. Any ideas. TE 449 2011

Very corked muffler. Remove the cat (search for my post on that) and you will get better performance. Replace it with after market and get even better performance. Add the JD tuner and get max performance.

You need to plug the resistor into the O2 sensor plug to activate "Race Map II". The bike just won't do it with a muffler change. One thing I noticed on my bike is that the screen stopped saying "Race Map II". I had to unplug the battery for a few minutes and plug it back in. Then it said "Race Map II" again. Weird electrical gremlins.

I think what Spud was asking and I'm also wondering was does the Powerbomb header bolt right on to the TE motor or would
a stock TC header bolt right on to the TE motor? Your bike looks trick, btw. That JD Tuner will be the icing on cake for you. Trust
me, you will like it.

Jerbear610, ive viewed the header fixings for akra tc449 at my local dealer today and its made up of four parts. 1: clamp 2: exhaust sleeve 3:exhaust gasket 4:retaining springs. Those parts are very expensive for the akra i think about $140. The fmf muffler and header will cost about $800 + $140. However the full akra would be $1200 + the $140

..and adding to jerbear610 that fmf system can you tell me Herb if you,ve the mega bomb header, or power bomb header. Also, which muffler have you fitted ie titanium?

Ive made some enquiries to the uk fmf importer and am awaiting a call back but if you have answer that would be great.

I called FMF USA and they said they only had that one muffler for the TE449. I was then taking to the mechanics at my shop and they called husky to see if there was a way around the $1400 us AKRA.
they concluded that if we ordered the system for the TC449 i would bolt right up to the TE449, but it does not meet EPA standards in CA.
i really dont care about EPA and its like a whole new bike.
I dont think the flange kit was $140 but i could be wrong thougth i thought it was around $60 but idk

^thats a link to my exhaust.
I have the factory 4.1 RCT TI slip on muffler
I have the TI Powerbomb, the mega bomb and the powerbomb i think is the same thing i just think they changed the name from mega to power recently
all for the TC449

Herb, where did you get that exhaust guard and will you be putting a guard on the power bomb? Based on what you've said about the power increase im buying the full fmf system.

O i just painted mine black heat resistant paint. thanks ya i took it out yesterday and i was geeting power wheelies in all gears but 6 cause i was scared to try it cause i didnt wana go down on some rocks.
it was also killing it on hill climbs tons of torq at low rpms

With a little coaxing mine will do stand up street wheelies in 6th at about 50mph no problem. Way EZer to wheelie in high gears than my 610 SMR. I might have a vid but try not to post street hooligan stuff.

ya but were talking about dirt, like in the shit not on gravel either

Herb, my new full fmf system just arrived i was like small child opening his christmas presents ripping them boxes open. It came with that guard youve fitted, but i prefer the akra and with a little gentle persaussion fits very neatly. In the flesh the fmf looks like a real bad boy system. It also came with a separate spark arrester and is about 1.5kg lightier than the akra. Are you using the arrester and how loud is this system i cabt run mine for about 2weeeks until my next practise ride. Il well pleased with the build and looks of the fmf and goes as far to let you be my friend on this site if it has this option..lol

Just to say motosportz is a nice guy hes a trail rider and has been helpful to me with jd tuner advice im sure he'll do the same for you.

haha ya i was the same way when i got my system.
i love the sound and its not too loud, it reminds me of a helicopter.
mine didnt come with an extra spark arrestor mine was already installed.
ya i might be living in england for a little while in the future cause my girlfriend wants to study there.
so if i do im going to def. bring my husky and we should ride. it may very well be london too.
I just got the tuner and am going to service my bike then install it.
Hopfully then i can get it to a Dyno and get it tested to see what im pulling.:D

Attack helicopter with the power to match..haha. ive not set my jd tuner to run with the fmf but with the stock akra i run the bike leaner than standard at low rpm, and then the mid range and higg end richer. A dyno result should be able to tell us what the optimum fueling should be rather then my guess work. Pop over to england and ill line up some practise riding and comps.

Sounds like you guys are all having fun with the new rides. Just ordered a 2011 TE 449 myself and have the FMF pipe on order.

Question on tire selection - the dealer was telling me the stock rubber on the TE is really a dual sport tire and would be terrible in sand / mud, etc. Do you all agree with that? He is recommending a softer compound Michelin tire which he says will be a lot more fun in dirt / sand / mud than the stock TE rubber.
