  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

New TE 499 Boo Yeah

Sounds like you guys are all having fun with the new rides. Just ordered a 2011 TE 449 myself and have the FMF pipe on order.

Question on tire selection - the dealer was telling me the stock rubber on the TE is really a dual sport tire and would be terrible in sand / mud, etc. Do you all agree with that? He is recommending a softer compound Michelin tire which he says will be a lot more fun in dirt / sand / mud than the stock TE rubber.

The stockers are fear-inducing piles of garbage. I'll let you choose your own replacements. For the AZ desert - MX71.

Absolutely.

I do agree with your dealer. The Stock front tire can be dangerous in the mud and the rear does not hook up in the sand at all.
I am new to dirt biking, but my dealer also recommended I switch out the tires to ride in the sand and mud.
I noticed a huge difference even the level I ride at.
He changed me up to the following:
Front is Pirelli Scorpion XC Heavy Duty Mid Hard M/C 51R M+S
Rear is Kenda Trak Master Mid Hard M/C 51R M+S
They working well for me.
Have great time on your new bike.

Thank you guys for all the suggestions and tire specs. Will definitely be swapping out the rubber. Appreciate it... Will post some pics when I get the new bike.

Fired up the 449 with its all new full power bomb fmf system for the first time....what a lovely exhaust bark and blipping the throttle quickly just off idle i couldnt stall it. Try that guys blip the throttle continously at low rpm and see if your bike stalls even with race map two and standard akra because mine did. Im racing this saturday using mich s12's front and rear with 4mm mich tubes, 12psi front and rear the land will be dry with whooped out woodland, mx circuit and open field blasts. 3hrs straight ill empty the fuel tank in under two hours any suggestions for quick splash of fuel pitstop?

Mine will never stall just blipping it. In fact it is kinda hard to stall at all. If I am slow on the clutch and in to high a gear while going slower I can stall it.

They are correct. What is the terrain you will be riding in?

ya i love this bike but the tires that it comes with are shit:censored:
my front end would slide out all the time with them
I went with Pirelli Scorpion MX tires they are a mid/hard i think
but they have sooo much traction my friends wont ride behind me haha

If you got what i got (2011 TE449) then you have no probs racing people with similar 450s, the 6th gear also helps a ton for finishing them off

Are those the UFO sidepanels? I just ordered them. maybe it's the lighting but in your photos they look more off white compared to the bright white of the rear fender, the rear fender looks brighter than the front too though so yeah maybe the lighting?

Have seen a few of you guys have mini tool kits that you bring with you on the bikes - strapped to the front or rear fender or thrown in a backpack. Any one in particular you would recommend that comes with the basic tools that would work well with a 2011 TE 449?
