  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

New Tc 250

John,
I'm 45 and have been riding and racing 2 strokes for as long as I can remember, mainly the YZ125. After trying my sons TC250 I was shocked...About 10 days later mine arrived, will never look back!!! The new TC ROCKS!!!

I have a TC250 being tested by a CDN Mag right now and the early reports are very good. Everyone agrees it is not the fastest 250F on the market, but it is not the dog that the US mags are saying it is. Every tester is in LOVE with the handling of the bike and they say it starts up perfect every time with the carb updates done.

The handling is amazing. Power is more than enough for 98% of the riders.
2 strokers will get very comfortable quickly on this bike as there is no engine braking and it's not easy to stall.

I think a lot of buyers are going txc and should be looking at the TC instead. Lighter, more power and a carb for all it's issues is reliable and easy to dial in.

Give this bike a year or two of tuning work and it'll be on par with the rest HP wise - not that that's the 'be all and end all'. Also, good riders will take advantage of the superior handling and start winning races with less HP. HP isn't everything - even in MX.

AGREED! In my first couple races this year in my +25A class, I am beating guys on this 250F (which EVERYONE in this class rides a 450)that I was unable to be last year on my 450****************************************! Power isn't everything............

+1

ask Cairoli about his 350!! he even holeshotted on it while in Nagl's own words "I was getting lots of wheel spin"on his 450. (sorry those are both the "other" brand, its just for the point)
PS good stuff on the 250 new winning ways!!

Thats awesome Blake

Yes I want one. There I've said it. My son just asked me if I could have only one bike what would it be. I think it would be the one I got for him; 2010 TC250. Hey since I got it for him, if I took it back....nevermind LOL.

JD jet kit update!

Justed installed, ride around the house. And it's a 1 kick bike! yes! :applause: I started it about 20 times. at least 10 straight 1 kick starts warm. The other 10 in 2-3 max. I can even start it in gear. With more practice this will be an ok dead engine start bike.

Seems to run better and throttle response is also very good. I real ride will be a better test.

It's probably the same basic jetting as the factory update but with a jd needle and the o-ring mod...

50 leak jet, 42 idle, 185 main jd red needle on 5th clip. Big o-ring mod.

When the factory kit comes in I will do the other changes involved except for the jetting that I should/will leave JD.

You guys are very patient to ride these bikes with the stock jetting

My bike was better stock... go figure :excuseme:.

The update kit from Husky includes: new needle jet, cap drain plug, hot start valve kit, leak jet, pilot jet, main jet, and instructions on how to set the AP setting.

I finally had a chance to take one of these for a brief spin today, even if it was only for a few minutes.

Honestly- I don't know what the magazines were complaining about regarding the horsepower of these new Husky 250's. They must be on bad drugs. The TC I rode today sure didn't feel lacking in any way.
Although I would need a few hours on the trails I ride to really form a complete opinion, I was suitably impressed with what the bike I rode today had to offer in terms of snap and overall acceleration. It sure felt stronger than either of my bikes; 07 TE 250, 09 TXC 250.

Can't wait to try one out on some trails for a couple hours......

Nice bikes!

Where did the engine breaking go?

lol ...

I take back the not easy to stall part.. I just did a race with slow enough going to have problems. Fast sections it's ok.

Lots of flameouts. Gearing is a bit high for this type of racing. I'm going with a rekluse for sure and 1 thooth on the rear.

Starts well hot only 10% of the time. I kicked it a lot today. Near dead last because of it. I had planned to race the 144 but trashed a radiator the night before in a endurcross race. It would of been a better bike for the conditions.

When its running I am way faster on this bike that anything else. But the 3 minutes of kicking every lap is not good for results. It's just like my tc450 when I started out with it new...until the rekluse. changed the bike completly.

If you're kicking that much, you're not dialed in. Do you have the carb upgrade? Do you have a flexjet fuel screw? This bike is sensitive to fuel screw adjustments. I'll tweak ours several times a day as things warm up and cool off. What about a remote hot start lever?

Rode my son's today and I kicked twice the first time to start it and then one after that. It was a mix up trail tack and MX riding at our house. We are still waiting on the carb "update" kit. I am not sure if we should be installing it now. Maybe we will do it piece meal until we hit on something it doesn't like.

I rode a 2010 TC250 at a local enduro today. I had never ridden the bike before, but it does have the carb update parts and a JD Jet kit installed. I did install a gas tank from a 2010 WR125 on it as I was concerned about the fuel range.

The little TC was awesome! I cant beleive how well it pulled even with my 200lbs carcass on it. It would wheelie out of every corner if you fanned the clutch.

Did I mention that the chassis is amazing? I am starting to think that this might be the BEST handling bike I have ridden in a long time. I also have a 2010 Berg FE390 to compare with and the TC250 feels just like a 125 but it is more stable.

The bike started 1-3 kicks max every time hot or cold. It did flame out 1x on me, but I dumped the clutch and it bump started before I had to kick it over. I find this bike is VERY sensitive and finicky to find TDC. If you are not in exactly the right spot with the kicker, it will not start under and circumstance. Have the kick starter in the sweet spot and it starts up every time. With the carb update alone done, the bike was a crappy starter. I dont know what is that different with the JD kit, but it seemed to fix the poor starting.

I have a Rekluse EXP in a box ready to install and now I am not sure if I am going to bother or not. The bike never flamed out and the clutch was nice and light.

As far as the gearing is concerned. It is dead on for me. I actually thought about going to a 49T rear sprocket to let it pull a bit more speed in each gear.

I was only planning on riding this bike for this 1 event and now I am starting to think that this may become my new race bike and keep the Berg for rides where I need a plate/lights.

I forgot to mention. The little TC brought me home with a 1st place (in class) trophy today. Most of my buds couldnt beleive that I had never ridden the bike before as I was going so good on it.

CONGRATS ScottyR! I road my 09 TXC 510 around today before I got on my son's 2010 TC 250. You are 100% correct on the handling it is the best handling bike I've ever had my 200 lbs on. I would trade my TXC for one in a second. I swear the TC250 feels as light as my 08 CR125 when I am riding it. I can tell the TC is a little heavier when pushing them around but not while riding them. Way to put the TC on top!
