  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc New owner wxc250 have questions

Just bought a 95? wxc250 today with a locked engine. Previous owner removed the head and saw no damage on top or on the cylinder. He believes the crank rod bearing is seized. Im curious as to what parts are interchangeable. Can use a cr250 crank by chance? If not where i can order bottom end parts? I already can easily find the top end parts. (im in new york if it matters)

I have done plenty of rebuilds before but kind of at a loss when it comes to finding husqvarna parts. Also would like to know if anyone has the factory service manual specs on this engine. Any info that can be provided would be great. Thanks, Nick

check with halls husqvarna.....they have quite a bit for your bike...
You could contact Scott at Toytech if you havent already done so. He may not have everything youd need in stock but hes a heck of a guy and would probably be helpful. (717) 469-9484

before you tear it down take a quick look to see if something is stopping it from rotating, a broken gear etc. since it was not in your possession when it happened assume nothing

The story went that it had a loss of power. It would hit the power band and bog between low and high rpm. The guy dropped it off to a friend to look at, he took it for a ride and after shutting it off and cooling down the engine was locked up. I have a new york state title and plan to be riding this to work some days once spring rolls around again, so im just going to refresh the top end and anything else it needs.
I started to take apart everything that is needed to get the engine out of the frame. Its about ready to come out but i left my allen keys at work so i had to stop. So far i can look into the exhaust port, the piston is right in the middle of the exhaust port right now. I can see the rings, top of the piston and a little bit of the cylinder. Nothing looks damaged so far.

Okay im stumped and getting frustrated. The last bolt i need to get out is the swing arm bolt. No matter how hard i beat it it doesnt move at all. I have no access to heat or else i would have heated the shit out of it by now. Im about to get a sledgehammer and beat the living crap out of that bolt. I screwed up the tip of the threads so i can't get the nut back on. Im at a loss and just want this damn engine out. Any kind of tricks?

any heat helps even a hair dryer, lay it on it's side put a little rust penetrating solution on it and use any heat to pull it in
sledge hammers tend to do damage as in bending or cracking, break the rust and solidified grease first

Alright i'll keep spraying it and grab a portable torch. Since there is a hole going through the middle of the entire bolt has anything tried taking a smaller bolt, putting a washer bigger than the frame tube on one end and slide it though with a nut on the other end. Tighten the nut up and making the swing arm bolt pull out if you understand what i mean. Might have a problem finding a high grade small long bolt though.

Ended up using some heat and was able to get the bolt out. Top end is off, cylinder and piston isn't scored but looks worn. Lower connecting rod bearing is seized, crank bearings feel very stiff and will be replaced as well. Clutch cover/ clutch disc have been removed. Clutch basket is very worn. I cant find any used parts for this bike. If anyone has a crank/rod and clutch basket they would sell me i would be extremely interested.
