    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Hi everyone,

I just picked up my 2011 TC449 and can't wait to start riding and contributing to the Cafe Husky forums!

My Question:

I just performed a check on the bike and noticed that the spark plug has black oil fouling around the electrode and outer lip, the seat threads are clean. No fuel smell just engine oil smell.
The bike has just had an oil service and was sitting in the showroom for the past four months.
There is no black/blue smoke from the muffler.

Is this something to be concerned about?
Do the TC449's have overheating shutdown protection in case they are run with low coolant levels?

I'm still getting used to all the good things the Husky comes with so any input is appreciated:).

Plug... probably nothing to worry about. and no, I do not think there is any sort of overheat shutdown protection.

After I asked the previous owner about this, he said he ran it for a few minutes without coolant!
Apparently shop didn't check coolant level when they changed oil.

No residue in oil or coolant now, so just checking.
I will perform a compression check soon.

My concern is that by "only a few minutes" he actually ran it longer but doesn't want to admit it.
No way to tell I guess, but if theres no damage its all I can check.

All the vitals look normal except for the oily plug, probably from the over oiled air filter.
 
Also, does anyone know what the hot/cold cylinder compression should be (2011 TC449)?
No mention of this in the USB service manual specs.:confused:
 
I do not but remember these motors have a compression release so there is probably a process to check it.
 
its got the enduro setup so probably ride some offroad single track if i decide to keep it.
