  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

New Husky???

Bandit

Husqvarna
AA Class
I have a 2010 TXS 510 Husky and due to medical issues didn't really get to ride it a whole bunch over the last 5 years. Maybe 3 or 4 outings a year. Finally getting ahead of some of my issues has allowed me to ride just about every weekend over the last 5 months. I'm not where I need to be physically, but I'm getting there. I am an ex desert racer but that means nothing now, so let's just say Ihave evolved in to a very safe, but mediocre vet trail rider and desert play rider. I'm really starting to gel with this Husky, but it wears me out pretty quick if I try picking up the pace a little because of the vibration. So hear is my question, if I get a new Husky fe501s or te300 will I notice an improvement? I get that it's newer and should be better, but will it be a noticeable improvement in handling, suspension and vibration? Btw, I'm a big guy, even after losing 30 pounds, I have another 30 pounds to go.

Any help or giluidance is appreciated.

Thats like ansewring the does my bum look big this question theres no right answer.

Personally i would hook a ride up on one of the other bikes and find out for yourself.
Im a light weight and reasonably fast rider so what works for me wont for you.

The new "Huskys", built by KTM, in 350/501 form are smoother than the 510 any day, all day, in any scenario.

Get a ride on one, or the sister bike, an EXC. And the 300 is a two stroke that will have a different type of vibration. Not nearly as violent as the 510 though.

I realize its difficult to know what the right answer is, but the insight of others can hopefully help me decide the correct path to take. I rode a well dialed 2010 CRF450x with flexx bars, rekluse clutch and a little motor work and really liked how smooth it was. It felt really heavy compared to my Husky, and the suspension was too soft for my weight, but i still felt i could ride it all day compared to my 510. It wasn't nearly as exciting in the power department, but it wasn't lacking in power either. I suspect it's just the vibration of my bike that is wearing me out. I've ridden a 2008 KTM 530 i believe but that was too many years and surgeries ago to remember if it would be a good fit for me now. Until i can ride one, i may just wait. Lord knows riding the 510, if nothing else, is helping me drop the weight and get in shape.
