  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

New husky owner here, need some straight answers on parts and mods and whatnot.

yeah i definitely like the logo on the seat cover too. Do you know if my bike is some sort of special edition? it's all black with black rims as well and their is husky stickers on the rims with spokes going through them so the either the rim was apart at one time and someone powder coated it or it came like that. i haven't seen any other bikes with the all black and minimal red graphics so i've been curious since i bought it.

Call Fast By Ferracci in Philly area. See if they have any goodies laying around for the SMRs. I think they have an ebay store as well. My 07 SM510R had alot of sweet FBF items on it. They installed a Wiseco high compr piston, slipper clutch, 2 stage ignition module, billet triple clamps, etc. Have fun with your bike. Those things are animals! Just pay attention to services. From what I hear, the bottom end and trans are more prone to failure than the top end but also the valves must be checked. For example, if the bike is hard to start when the motor is hot, the exhaust valves may be tight/out of spec.

Ill definitely look into them thanks for the info, and i've got a lot of buddies who went on to race at some pretty high levels in motocross that obviously all ride thumpers so they are going to be my guide on the whole valve thing.

Awesome man, im in graduate school right now so idk when the next time ill be back in rockford with my bike buuut, definitely let me know if you guys go for a ride when it warms up (and dries up) and ill try to make it work.

:)

Hey does anyone have religion suggestions .......?
Hey does anyone have tire suggestions for my 450?
Hey does anyone have diet suggestions.........?
Hey does anyone have political suggestions.......?

And newly popular Hey does anyone have SP/KTM/Bajij merger opinions .....?

http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/what-engine-oil-are-you-using.31068/

The latest thread is here...notice the question was just ...What ARE you using...however opinions abound about what one SHOULD use :-)

All in good humor.

when it come to 4T's i go with George @ Uptite's recomendations. no one here or anywhere has flogged husky's thumpers more than him. he recomends the Spectro MC specific blend.

If you can swing it, put a damper on that thing. You'll be glad you did. Saved me a few times.

Welcome, I am an hour south of you. We always go to Halls in Springfield. They can get you anything.

Also, there are other site sponsors that have aftermarket goodies, Motosportz, 7602, Brap, etc....

BMP up in Northwest/Motoxotica is good for parts as well. There are others and all great.

Try and use sponsors on this site because they help support this great place.

Halls would deffinately be the place to start! Good guys there. They ride too. Searched the world over for a new set of stock triple clamps. Called Hall's, "Yes sir, have a set of take offs on the shelf." Done...

I see i'm a month too late for this thread but lots of interesting info been discussed! Im one month into owneing an 07 SMR 450. Loving it. About to change the bars from stock to "Zeta" bars (mx style). Also looking for info on recomended mods for the bike so will check out the link further back! My bikes currently stock standard and only 1300km on it. Already needing a smaller shim on my one exhaust valve though- hopefully this wont be the case every 1000km. anyone got good recomendations on carb setup?! My bike bogs down if i wack the throttle open from idle and sometimes. Dont know if the exhaust shim will fix this?! ive so far lifted the carb needle 1 notch and feul screw is 2 turns open. any recomendations??!
