    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

New Husky Leo Vince Titanium system for the TXC

While in PA to see my daughter graduate from Penn State, I took a side trip to Toy Tech Husky to pick up my new Leo Vince complete Titanium system from Husky (with the remapped ECU).

The thing was a snap to install with a little bit different mounting configuration right out of the head (see pics). I took out the factory installed "db killer" which is a very restrictive small diameter pipe with built-in SA screen, and installed the less restrictive (USA market only) screen SA. I popped in the new ECU, calibrated the TPS and she fired right up.

The initial ECU settings were 100, 100, 100. On the maiden voyage, I got about 100 yards down an alley in the neighborhood and the bike started running like $hit! Hesitating, bucking, and finally flaming out. I tried several times to start it, to no avail. I let it cool and tried again and she fired right up again. Down the alley another 100 yards and the exact same thing! :eek: This time I managed to get back to the house before it flamed out.

As luck would have it, one of my Mom's neighbors (and an old childhood friend of mine) was in his yard during my "test ride" and came up to my Mom's house to proclaim: "That thing sounds like a piece of $hit!" :banghead: I told him about the new exhaust and how it "probably just needs some EFI tweaking". Luckily, he had to go to work, and left soon after.

First thing I did was read the installation manual again to see if I had forgotten anything. One thing stood out... the manual specified a 1 KM "break-in" period to ensure all the connections sealed themselves properly. :excuseme: I blew it off as nonsense and let the bike cool off again. Then I checked the TPS again... it was fine. After a complete cool down, I cranked it up again and shot down the alley. This time I got about twice as far before it crapped out. Cooled it down. Cranked it up... got better and better each time. Finally, after about 5 heat cycles, the bike started running like a scalded dog! :excuseme::excuseme: I still have no idea what was going on, but maybe there was something to the "break-in" recommendation??? That's all I can point to.

After it finally started running right, I got my riding gear on and did some serious trail riding on the mountain behind Mom's house. I did several tweaks on the CO adjustments in iBeat. I rode a bit Friday, yesterday, and this morning and finally settled with ECU settings at 100, 103, 105. These settings (on this particular bike) seem to be the sweet spot for this exhaust.

Compared to the stock exhaust and ECU, this is a completely different bike! :notworthy: LOTS more power across the board. It'll pull the front wheel in three gears without trying. The trouble with doing 2 mods at the same time is the fact that I really don't know if it's the pipe or the ECU that's giving the most gains. Based on the cost... I hope it's BOTH! :D

Mine only had the slightest bit of that... and not all the time. But yes, all traces are now gone. It's quite the different beast. When I get back to NC, I'm planning to take out the SA screen and do some more tinkering. I was scared to take out the screen in PA because they are VERY strict and I was riding a bit on some State Game Land... bad enough if I had been caught on the land to begin with... but much worse without a SA.
 
Very good Krieg thanks for posting it up. Some of us still don't know what other bike they want and info like this helps me... I mean them.

You must be joking! Are you serious? Please don't give me false hopes! Man, I can't wait for my dealer to call for the ECU reflash and dyno tuning session.

i haven't taken the db killer out of my leo ecu silencer combo because i didn't realise the small cap that covered the screw. and does it make that much of a difference with it taken out.

Kelly, my friend's TXC250 is a VIN with latest ECU and runs flawlessly.

I didn't even try it with the db killer in. Based on the small diameter of the insert versus the large diameter of the silencer opening when it the insert is out, I suspect the difference in power is substantial.

Well, OK, I have to try a bit in third. :busted: But not too hard. This motor can scream when things are dialed-in. I plan to ride tomorrow with the USA spec screen out to see if any more power can be had.

Let me know what settings you end up with. I just got this exhaust and I'm ordering an ibeat to fine tune the fueling with the silencer completely opened up.
