  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

New Husky! Deal of the Decade(?'s)

Husqvarna
AA Class
Ok so my 09 te 510 is getting a little tired. 10k on the motor and idk how many sets of tires later I've been thinking about buying a new bike the past couple months. Ideally I wanted to go buy a pre BMW husky 510 with low use. I am not gona lie though I seriously considered going for a 500exc on more then a few occasions. I even put a deposit down on a2014 before they were in dealerships yet. But a couple days ago I was browsing Craigslist and stumbled apon a post to answer my dreams! 09 te510 with 68 miles on it!!! Jackpot! Called the guy and turns out he lived 20 min away from me. Bought it that day! So now that i have identical twins I'm trying to recall all the little things I had to do to the bike to make them purr. I already removed all of the emissions stuff. On my more used 510 I have a hi flow water pump installed that I think i recall was bought from motosportz but can't seam to find that on their website now. Also I think i remember them selling a Y hose connector to replace the stock T one. The original temp sensor is still in the bike to so I will buy a newer updated one of those before this one craps out on me. I can probably grab that from halls cycles. So I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get my hands on these two parts!? Pump and y hose. Also, so now that I saved a bunch of $ not buying a 10,00 dollar ktm I'm on a mission to make this "new" husky super reliable and and fix all the little problems I encountered on my old one before they even happen. As well as tune and mod it to be th fastest woods bike possible!

Any help much appreciated!

Halls for the high volume pump impeller.

I will be letting go of my 09 TXC450 soon if anyone is interested. I need to clear some space in the garage. It's not a 100 mile bike but it's in great shape. Bought new in 11 and then had a hip replaced that year.
The most reliable, best performing engine I've ever had. It will be in the clasifieds soon if someone is interested in a great bike. I'm currently replacing all the linkage bearings and the chain and sprockets, even though there is plenty of life left in them. Somebody is going to get a good one.

Why not? I've only had it on the road for 2 weeks. Thinking about selling it.

Humor...it needs to be ridden more. I have a 2012 SMR511 and would happily go back to the '09 that I sold! I have full exhaust and Power Commander with Autotune on the 511. Still does not feel the same. I am (most likely) done with Husqvarna after this one. It is the red-headed step child of the branded motorcycle industry.

Alright, Update Time!

Been doing a lot of work to the "new" bike thought I would share my progress. I also need some help from the CH community!

Mods to date:

-FMF Q4 Slip-On
-Removed all emissions stuff
-Routed valve cover breather tube away from air box with mini filter. Also sealed the elbow that comes off the valve cover.
-High Flow Water Pump
-Engine Ice Coolant
-Newer Temp Sensor
-Y Hose Connector
-Completely remove clean and grease all pivot points on bike (swingarm+linkage, wheel bearings, steering stem bearings)
-Oil change+filter (motorex 10w-60) cleaned both screens as well (bunch of silicone and some metal shavings to be expected considering this is the first oil change the bike has ever had)
-Removed cleaned and secured fuel pump with safety wire. (Seriously secured, if it slips out I will be really surprised) also zip tied the wiring for the pump and low gas sensor so hopefully this one wont snap off on me like my old one.
-Rear flush mount LED blinkers and resistors(flash rate is perfect, not to fast nor to slow)
-Front baracuda quadra super bright LED blinkers
-UFO universal LED tail light assembly
-2010 tank plastics (no more stickers)
-Completely went through bike wiring applied di-eletric greese to connections and secured everything with ties to eliminate any wiggle the harness has that will eventually lead to fraying. Also made everything very neat and more aesthetically pleasing.
-Checked valve clearances and re-torqued all head stud bolts as well as cam seat bolts.
-E3 diamond fire spark plug
-Motoz Tires Front and Rear- Enduro S/T Front(90/100-21) Rear (130/90-18) both balanced with spoke weights
-Supersprox Sprockets (Front-14) (Rear-45) Cruises nice at 70 mph
-Torqued all wheel spokes
-7602 Oil drain hex bolt kit
-Belly Skid Plate
-Moose racing hand guards
-Moose racing front and rear fender bags
-Pivot Pegz
-Seal Savers
-New Grips
-Tightened both throttle body clamps (to many times my throttle body poped out of the boot while out riding on my older bike) also tightened throttle cables which were very loose.
-Polished every piece of aluminum on the bike to a mirror finish (linkage, tripple trees, brake and shift levers) anyone know a good way to seal polished aluminum?
Rear Shock Cover
Zip-Ty brake pedal extender

So I sold one of my older huskys to free up some cash to spend on the "new" steed.
What I want to order once I get some opinions:

Tuner- power commander or jd jetting?
Steering Stabilizer - GP or Motosportz?
Air bleeders for front forks - where to get them?
7602 upgraded slave cylinder piston (since the bike has such low miles I don't need to order a new cylinder right?)
Radiator braces- 7602 or Enduro Engineering?
Suspension Re-Valve and re-spring (who is the hands down best)?
Headlight - I had a trail tech on my older husky but I would like to keep the stock one for aesthetic reasons but I neeeeed to make it brighter. Anyone make or play around with h.i.d bulbs in the stock housing?

Anything else anybody can think of as far as preventative mods/maintenance or just sick parts that will make this bike unbelievablely fast dont be shy!

Thanks in advance
