• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Ok, what is the consensus on using Rotella T synthetic 5w/40 and/or Rotella T dyno 15w/40 ??????????? My manual calls for 10w/60...only place near me want $20 a quart************************************************************************************************************************!!! :lol:
 
For those of you using Rotella T, Which one do you use?

They now make three types...Totella T, T5, and T6

T is dino
T5 is a blend
T6 is synthetic.

Anyone have any input as to the type that would be best to use?
 
Stop thrashing around, worrying and put some Maxima 20/50 or Honda GN4 20/50 in your bike. It'll be great.

There are so many oil threads on this forum, it ain't funny. It was funny....but then there were just so many that it was over the top.:doh:

Couple of new threads were started this week alone. Like DD states it ain't funny any more.

Do a little more reading on back threads please. Before you just post anything that comes to you head.

I have only used Rotella t 15 w 40 in my 09 husky. I have seen very few metal shavings on my drain magnet. Dont waste your money on anything else****************************************

Is Rotella JASO? Is it wet clutch friendly.It is a specific diesel oil.Heavy on detergents.I use 15w40 in the Super Duty not the Husky.20w50 Amsoil Vtwin and nothing else

I read on a thread somewhere that it is now certified with this label and yes it should be clutch friendly ... I have not used it yet but have read it hundreds of times where others are using it without any clutch issues ...

Usually it is spelled 'dino' as in 'dinosaur'. I bought a gallon of the dino and am not impressed, very notchy shifting. My next gallon will be synthetic because I like to experiment. :)




It would be good if people where not told to use the search function. People may have tried searching and failed to mention it. I've searched in the past on forums for specific information such as oil and had little luck, although there were plenty of posts on the topic.

In addition on most (95%+?) forums the search does not work at all for 3 letter searches, it has only been the last 3 months they were enabled on cafehusky...it required an upgraded hosting account for that to happen. Also at the moment there is a tag search, click on the various tags such as 'oil' and all threads tagged with oil will come up. Sadly not many threads have been tagged as of late.
 
If the question is just about Rotella, I have used both T5 and T6. I now use the T6 Synthetic, as I found it provides smoother shifts. I used expensive stuff for the first 6 months then switched without any problems.
 
Just beware of "energy conserving" on the API label on the bottle. If that's not shown then you're good to go. Everything else depends on how often you change it and how your bike shifts. Rotella work great in everything but my Triumph Sprint. Gearbox did not like it and shifting was very difficult until changed out.
