  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

New bike to much oil??

Howdy, I have a 2012 te511 only 85mi's, when parking after a short ride I have about a halfdollar size spot of oil on the ground over a 5 hr period. traced the leak back to a hose from air box that drains to the ground. green oil for sure ,not sticky filter type oil. Could this bike be over filled from factory?? Should I just drain it and start over? I think these take 1 qt exactly. Any ideas would be helpful.

Mine was grossly overfilled from factory. On my first outing off-road I had oil all over the motor coming from the airbox. I checked
the sightglass and it was definitely overfilled although it was deceiving because I couldn't see a level. In other words all I could see was oil.
Anyway, being that I just bought it a couple days prior I took it back to the dealer and they confirmed it was way over filled, corrected it,
cleaned it up and that was it.

It was over filled and the oil blows onto the air filter and colors the oil.... Check the oil for a gas smell when you drain it.

Ok. This seems to be happening to alot of 511 riders so here's what ive figured out.

1- put my bike on the jack with both wheels just touching the ground. Sight glass showed just over half. Went for a ride and spewed oil.

2- scratch head.

3- same procedure but ensure bike is perfectly level side to side. Ahha.

Try this yourselves and you'll probably note as I did that there is a big difference between kinda level and actually level.

No more oil spewing for me.
