Ok, so this is my first post on here (and my first Husky) I have several ??? regarding this awesome bike that's way more than I bargained for. Having owned MANY big thumper enduros, coupled with having an uncharacteristically good paycheck last month I figured it was time to X one off my "bucket list" I've owned plenty of dirt and sport bikes since the age of 5 (41 now and feeling every one) but this is something I didn't count on. I just knew it was going to be awkward, but how happy I am that I'm always wrong. It feels like I finally got a pair of boots that fit correctly, and know I'm about to wind up in a heap of trouble. It's a carbureted 2007 610sm with nothing but an Arrow slip-on and a HEAP of miles (15K) The PO said he did the chain at 10K himself, and he's checked the valves often. The bike seems somewhat solid, although it doesn't want to idle and the display is flaky at best.
- I desperately want another set of bars/grips/clamps and desperately need a steering stabilizer. Does anyone have any bar bend/brand suggestions? The ones that are on it appear to be from a 1970s Huffy BMX bike that sat under an ugly tree for many years. The grips appear to be from a 1980 Goldwing really fat in the middle and tapering toward thumbs and pinky…terrible. It also seems as though Edward Scissorhands ran the cables to the bent levers that also need replacement. I also need recommendations on levers, as they're bent and huge/heavy/ugly.
- I will also need a FSM if available in print I'll jump up and down, but will settle for any downloadable version as well. I would really like to do a "once over" for spec. before I start chucking this thing into geometry that boggles my mind at high speed or making a trip to the mountains (Franklin NC)
- The PO was about 50# lighter than my 220# and I would really like to stiffen things up, but don't want to mess with anything until I know the specs. Is the factory rear shock set-up any good for heavy riders like me, or should I look at another?
- The rear tire is too tall (profile height) and although fairly new, both of these Michelin Pilots feel like garbage to me. I need something sticky, not really mileage conscious but don't want a straight up slick or track tire. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated, as well as chain/sprocket advice as the ones on it are crap.
- Finding ethanol free gas has become almost impossible here in Atl, so can I run a stabilizer like Lucas or similar or should I just bite the bullet and make the drive to get the good stuff?
Thanks a million in advance for any input, this bike is way more than I thought it would be and I need all the control/stability I can get. Apologies for the battery of ??? from a noob, surely these are all relatively well covered somewhere on here but I couldn't find anything that fit the bill specifically.
