  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

congrats you lucky dog!
Yeah really... I think Kelly is about ready to spend a couple grand to fly to Italy and steal one off the assembly line! :D

he he he was literally bitching to my dealer about it minutes ago. I guess husky is not interested in selling bikes in the states. Sad.

they are in US customs at this time.then they go to the ware house and then the dealer.2 more long weeks!dan

hope im doing right thing

i love my 08 and told the 2011 is far better bike but have read some not very good reviews  sure it will be better bike than 08

Congrats and I hope your weather improves so you can get some ride time in for you and Kelly LOL.

took her out for quick spin today on some rather rocky snotty trail and tarmac, only half hour due to monsoon like weather, first impressions super smooth power delivery and gearing is spot on my 08 i had to change sprockets but this is bang on and although the suspension is hard at moment when its used a little and bedded in i think its going to be good will let you know.

Sweet  Post some pictures :D

ya got heads up with my wr125!!!

i kid.

that thing's fully badass man. dig it. lucky devil.

someone call 911 for kel. is that smoke from st helens again or did he just pop a gasket?

One thing I've been wondering about the 449/511 is that with the new, underseat fuel tank design, won't designing an oversized aftermarket tank be a bit of a problem?

how bigs the coolant jug? you could sneak some gas in there no? i've seen that done on other scoots. not much i know but...

still a sweet ride and congrats bud.

another hour

had another hour on her today and i have to say she is spot on my 08 was geared completely wrong and had to fiddle with the suspension to get it work right for me but the 449 seems good straight out of the box, cant wait to get 5 or so hours run in time on her and take her up the woods to really see how she goes.one problem is the hour meter isn't recording the hours so contacted the dealer and he is going to send me a replacement.

Perhaps you are already going so fast on the new husky that you are actually traveling back in time. Thus your hour meter is working just fine, but blasting through the woods at light speed keeps resulting in you arriving at the same time and place you left. :D

Thanks for the report. It's good to hear someone out there is getting their new 449/511 fix.

hey

didnt think of that so you think im going that quick i am ending up back at the same place i will have to mention this to my mrs:applause:

i would say looking at the bike it would be near impossible

Well, given the underseat thing, I thought the same. And then I realized my F800GS has an underseat tank and Touratech makes a tank for it. It goes where the tank normally would, right in front of the rider. So you run two gas tanks. The problem with that tank is it's not compatible with crash bars (which you want on an adventure bike cuz all that weight falls hard). But I could see something similar possibly working for the 449.

What kind of mileage does that thing get?

not sure

not sure yet as im still in the running in process, severe frost and ice here at mo so havnt had chance to get any more hours on her hopefully will get couple more on weekend.will let you know
