  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

New 310 Wooo whooo

My lovely wife got me the gift I really wanted this year, a 2010 TE 310 from Tasky's.

Love her and love the bike. Put 24 miles on it on Sat. It was tough to take it easy, it hits 5,000 rpm and takes off like a rocket.

Sure is nice on the whoops and in the corners too. My buddy on his Orange 520 was jealous.

Thinking of some armor and such:

- EE or Motorsportz sharkfin
- Uptite or Motorsportz or P3 exhaust shield (burned my over-the-boot pants already)
- Uptite Skid plate (I want to protect the bottom of the frame)
- The competition tailight/license holder seems less likely to get damaged
- I will eventually need a bigger tank. Hopefully someone will make one that works with a stabalizer and fits nice with everything else too.
- Most Importantly, softer seat foam. Even after only 24 miles I had monkey butt. I sit 50% (ish) of the time.
- A new front tire (Perelli Scorpion) (DOT) ordered already. I have an MT16 for the rear (I know it's not DOT).

Congratulations! Sounds like you got a keeper, both in the bike and Mrs.! The bike will only get better with time and that's no joke. Is it uncorked, ie cat converter, throttle stop, air filter cage, etc? The Motosportz shark fins are top notch, have them front/rear on my 310 and can't say enough good things about them. The P3 heat shield is a must too, again, put one on for the same reason you experienced! Found a guy on E-bay who makes aluminum skid plates, radiator braces, rear master guards, and rear exhaust guards for a real good price. Not the thickest aluminum, but good quality, and fit great. The package deal for all of that stuff he offers is hard to beat. Stuggling with the mileage as well, but I carry an extra 1/2 gallon crossbar jug mounted to my front fender when I need to get between 65 & 75 miles. When your ready, pull that O2 sensor and get the bike hooked up to the iBeat 2 and set your CO2 setting to 110, leaving CO1 & CO3 at 100. You'll be VERY glad you did, but it works best with the S/A insert in place. With those settings, the bike likes that bit of added back pressure. If you really want a kick, check out the G2 quick turn throttle tube. Best money I've spent on an aftermarket product next to the steering stabalizer! Decided to go with the BRP chain guide as well. My stocker was causing some draging issues which the BRP cleared up. Lots of good stuff out there, but even in stock trim, the bikes are awesome! Congrats!

Congrats on the new ride!:applause: I'm jealous, I need to get a 2010. But instead I received some needed protection for my husky from Santa. I really love the Motosportz front/rear disc guards! The rear one took my a while (hour) to get perfectly straight so the axle would slide through,:banghead: but that also lets me know it will sit in there nice and tight. I haven't seen the Uptite or Motosportz skid plate in person, but I did get a Hyde/ZipTy one that is awesome and also protects the frame in vicinity of the foot pegs. I agree with the seat being slightly stiff and I am also looking at a softer seat from XPC next year along with a damper from Kelly.:D Enjoy!

Thanks for the tips.

Tasky's installed the power-up at the dealership. O2 (out and plugged), Air filter cage changed, Catalytic converter (out), Spark Arrestor (in), Kickstand nubbins (removed). I assume they re-jetted the EFI map, it runs great.

I see they moved the front turn signals down on the 2010's. They didn't last long on mine! What kind of tires came on your 2010? Haven't seen anything quite like that before. Oh yeah, check out the 7602 Racing clutch slave cylinder guards. Another must have guard!

Metzler Karoos, come on all the 2010 TE's......I imagine many dealers will have "piles" of these. LOL! Good tire for DS but pure offroad???

Interesting tire. I'd love an off road ride report when it becomes available. Think you'll find your going to spend most of your time off the pavement for what it's worth. The 310's are dynamite, but road riding & trail connectors aren't something I look forward to when on mine!
