  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Make sure the little drain on the airbox isn't getting stuck on the force guards. Right side guard, there a little cutout for it but it's not big enough. On my SMR there was a little bit of house attached which needed to come off first, watch for oil to come out the hose/drain...

Flip the two clips and then pull it straight out the right side of the bike.

What he said,
but adding to that. If you haven't pulled both sides plastics off, do that first. It will all make sense once you can clearly see what is going on.
Also, be sure you are pushing the bottom half of the airbox out, not the top, and as said. it will slide to the right side to take it off.

Ha!
Riding with Emu's - that has to be a trip. Would kind of suck to have one make a quick left in front of you though!
It is a trip but frightening at the same time! WTF were they thinking when they made an animal that size and put a brain the size of a peanut in it :banghead:

Thanks for the replies guys, I got it, pipe FMF/with quiet core insert and seat concepts foam and cover ordered,
So far bike is running smooth, starts good, nice power and handling after some adjustment.

Air cleaner is not coming out. Checked manual. How far, does the box open. I can only get it open a small
amout. Don't want to force it, but it may come to that! Maybe someone can tell me what my stupid arse is
missing
there is a small clip on the front right you need to pull the cover down a little and then slide it out

Cool, let me know how it goes, problems. Mine is on its way also!
Hey tinken, after reading and review, I picked up a few liters of
10/40 mobil one full synthetic for bikes.

I should have my oil mods finished in the coming weeks. Next week I will have the new breather mod ready and available for purchase. We're also making billet shifters for the 449/511 which will be available through Hall's Cycles in a week or two.

Ok, not a question, most of my riding is in the woods, tight rutted hilly. Also some TT track. At 5'9" and 155
I would not mind her a little lower. Any ideas? I can live with it the way she is, but an inch or two would be sweet!

You can get the shock shortened. Good call on the Mobil 1 I swear the clutch grips much better since switching. Also don't see any more metal junk on the drain magnet.

First time on real dirt today! Rode 14 miles to club and rode the TT track and some motor cross to get a,feel
for the suspension. I had already softened it up a little an the slow adjustment and a couple of clicks on high,
Front and rear...seems close enough for me for now. It handles excellent and good usable power. Did not go
WFO, just brisk. Several guys on huskys there from gateway BMW in st.louis. I think I might be falling in love!

If your falling in love now wait till you go WFO........I would imagine you will need to censor your reaction!

Ever thought about making billet brake levers for the 449/511? The tip of the pedal on the standard lever sticks out about 3ft from the clutch cover and i find it quite annoying. I would love a brake pedal that was much closer to the clutch cover.

If you do make a brake lever, make it so it can go super low for those with freakishly long limbs...
