  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Keep an eye on the horn mounting points on those force guards, while they're great guards, I've had 2 sets stress crack around the horn mounting points leaving the horn dangling by the electrical cable in less than 3000km. Two other mates haven't had any issues with theirs though, one with a red set has just under 10,000km on his 449.

problem solvered! relocated horn to behind head light no stress on radiator guards, out of the mud but most importantly sexier!!!

Where'd you end up bolting it to? I haven't found a home for mine after removing it for my last track outing.

Oooooh, I'll have to try that myself.

I noticed you're bike doesn't have a key.... would you mind testing something for me :p This is for the old G450X but having a key on my bike I can't see if it works on a keyless 449/511...

The ignition can be switched on by having the headlight switch in the High-beam position and pressing the high-beam flashing switch.

EDIT: I also noticed you have the hydraulic pressure switch on the clutch, something my '11 SMR isn't burdened with, although years of habit make me pull the clutch every time I start.

No worries, hoping it might be a way to wake up the bike (shouldn't start the engine), looks like they removed that from the ECU.

Went and picked her up at dealer last night. Will take her for a short ride this AM, I am excited!
It is 32degrees right now, but I am going to drive her a mile down the road to a farm I hunt for a
Short one.....

30 miles on it today! Brought it home and decided to de-cat it, drilled out the rivets and it came apart except for the
Flange attached to cat. It got dark and cold, will continue tomorrow. The glue/RTV they used is strong.
Bike ran great, but I am sure it will run cooler and flow better. Cancelled the FMF for now, will spend the money
On other farkles.

I road mine for a year with a decatted stock can.... drill a few big holes in the baffles while your at it, i used a 11'' chop saw and got the rest out with a utility drill bit. Its a bitch.... it will come apart

Got pipe finished. Rode some, I'm at 75 mile so I dumped the oil, cleaned the screens, fresh filter. Some gritty stuff
On drain plug, a little more on screens, filter funky colour. About what I would expect on a new engine.
Started playing with suspension, I am 5'9 and 150, it was way to stiff for me...read the manual and backed off
Everything. Seems a lot better, need trail time to tell, I am mostly woods, TT, and 2 lane.
I used spectra full synth 15/50, its what halls recommended. So far so good..did fit a small tankbag,(cortech)
Should be able to start on upgrades, soon. First will be seat concepts...my skinny butts not made for this seat.
Oh yeah, love the low end and midrange on this bike. Handling also seems great!

Air cleaner is not coming out. Checked manual. How far, does the box open. I can only get it open a small
amout. Don't want to force it, but it may come to that! Maybe someone can tell me what my stupid arse is
missing
