  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

New 13 TXC310R new owner questions

Don't sweat it. They are all a little tight right out of the box. It will break in and stalling will minimize. I found a loose connection under the seat at the starter solenoid on our dealers TXC310R race bike while it was in my possession. It was a full 2 turns out and had an intermittent starting issue as well. Your problem may also be the starter gears. Make sure the last three serial numbers are above 264. I believe that is the cut off number for getting a new starter gear set under warranty. After 264 they were already changed out at the factory. Good luck and let us know what you find.

The FMF exhaust system REALLY wakes up the powerband. Helps you stay down a gear so you don't have to lug a higher gear. Worth the $$$. The bike seems to pop stall more than I'd like, but mine is new as well. I also get the occasional clicking when starting and yes I have to clutch it in the slow stuff.

You might also be better served with another one or two teeth on the rear to get her reving faster and closer to the powerband.

I am very cautious with reliability at this point, as my bike broke down after just 10 hours, but conveniently after my warranty expired. Just paid $500 to get her fixed and she still is not running right. If I have another major repair in the next 6 months, this bike is going for sale.

It'll loosen up after a few hours.
Get the Leo Vince map loaded into the ecu by a dealer. Check this thread: http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/stalling-issue.35933

IMHO the stock header is good enough. Just get a slip on open pipe. I fitted a 2010 tc250 Ti Arrow silencer (husky special part) and Leo Vince map. I'm liking it and stalling is not an issue.

FWIW, I have a '13 TE310R that is powered up with map 2(stock TXC map). I had not researched this website before they did the power up or I would have gone with the open pipe map. I have added an FMF Powercore slip-on and a JD Tuner(no PCV option here). With the factory settings on the JD Tuner, it runs fine from top to bottom, no flameouts. This added power from top to bottom and I am completely satisfied with the power. Really barks off the bottom now for a 300cc thumper.

Yes.... Have dealer check Vin for starter recall and defintely tighten the valve if kicking is an issue. That can exacerbate the issue big time. Was my last itme to address and should have been the first. Why I believe in Technical Bulletins mailed to owners of record as well as a dealer tech in a timely fashion.

I can't see the tech manual on my USB drive the dealer gave me. Is it not on there? I see the owner's manual. I'm a mech engineer and like to do my own maintenance work.

Thanks so much, all. Thinking all day I may have made a mistake selling my '12 KTM 300XCW and picking this up. I hope not. My bike is number 076. Dealer likely did not do starter gear repair but I will check tomorrow. Can I assume my exhaust valve might also need to be tightened a bit? The bike was very hard to kick start when it would not estart, and I am not a physically weak fella.

300XC-W is a nice bike. I'd have kept and and rode it 'till the wheels fell off.

Hi Johnny, I have a 13 TXC 310 and have some starter issues. I am in Greenville, SC, if you would like, I can give you my experience and why you should definitely keep your 310. PM me and I will be glad to give you my number if you like.

Not surprising since most husky dealers are clueless. There are only a few that are educated on these bikes and it's easy to differentiate them. Good luck I hope they get you sorted out. Call Halls cycles or Bills if you start getting the runaround.

You bet Johnny! Seems to me if the service bulletin expired last August, the dealer should have know and taken care of it. Either way, they should make it right. I doubt there is any bulletin regarding the exhaust valves. Stay in touch.

Seems pretty obvious to me, too. We'll see. My bike was delivered with 25 lbs air in rear tire and 6 lbs in the front. Clearly, I am nervous about what lies ahead for me and my new ride.
