  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Birdy, I know a guy that can answer that @ Halls. They use the Get and Pro Circuit combos and are getting good results.

Just talked to my dealer. He said he's giving me a dented LeoVince X3 for free with the new bike. Gonna flatten it a bit and see if I'm happy with the performance. He said, it's not necessary to use the GET stuff unless you want the max... Sounds like a good solution for me now.
 
Maybe it's just me, but i think someone is getting a little carried away with his new tig welder lol buy the bike, setup the suspension for you, add some good handguards and a skid plate, depending on wat year 310 you get the JD tuner is a good idea, as is exhaust, and than ride. done.

Haha, Darin gets carried away whenever he starts working on any bike he has. That's why we like him so much and look forward to his posts. But carried away with the new welder, can you blame him? :)
 
I definately agree, I can get lil carried away. But it all started when I was 12 years old. I couldn't leave anything alone. I started splitting cases, figuring out how to put a 125 piston in a 100 cylinder, porting etc.... then came cars, trucks, jeeps, lift kits, big tires, paint jobs,etc.... my biggest hobby was restoring muscle cars. I still have one muscle car left,, but I don't have the patience to do anymore, well maybe? I told my son that some day we are going to build a lifted 4 wheel drive, 70 Elcamino.
I think alot has to do with, the kids are grown and bikes are my new kids. I am older now and can't race as fast as I want to, better yet won't race like I could. So I enjoy building bikes, riding/racing them at my own pace. I get the biggest kick, when I put the bike on the stand in the pits. Also, its winter and I am bored as heck.

RD, haven't picked one yet and may not need them at all. I am working on something right now that might change the way our thinking is?

You are right, i did. But part of that was my fathers idea. He payed for it and said he thought i should do it. So i went along with it. My yz250 rims are still silver ;)

Nothing wrong with that. Sometimes dads like helping our kids out. Black rims look good on the husky's. I saw your 250 down in classifieds and looks good.

By the way, welcome to Husky world! So what made you convert?
 
Some of you is rubbing off on me - Im not huge on polishing up things but I bought a Dremel and took to the kickstart and brake and polished them up . It looks great. I now notice that yours havent been done !
Mine were looking a bit dull. What do you use on your swing arms - on 125?

Well i rode atv's in the motocross scene for a few years and did really well on those. But they got to expensive. So i am trying dirt bikes, but i prefer woods riding. I like the tough single track stuff that really brings a challenge. The yz250 is really just more power than i need to be honest. I wanted a middle weight four stroke and the choice was between a husky 310, ktm 350xcf or beta 350rr. I wanted the beta but their really aren't any dealers around here and idk how easy it would be to find parts for them. I am still finding it hard to find oem parts and just extra parts in general for the husky. Can't just go to motosport, bto sports or rockymounatinatvmc anymore. btw, does anyone know a good place for numbers for the husky? Id like to get a good looking set of numbers for the bike for the races.

I only do the swingarms/side covers etc.... when they get all scuffed up.

The key to polishing is having the right tools to get it done fast and easy. I use alot of air sanders then use a buffer on a stand/compound to give it the final luster.

Hey guys I have been lucky enough to get some feed back from Fred Andrews. He said they put the Pro Circuit system on the 2013 and it ran better then there race ready 2012!!! enough said! But I had to ask where he felt the biggest improvement was...he told me over rev. Much better over rev which IMO is the only place the bike is lacking. Needless to say I will be getting the stainless steel version as soon as I can afford it. Ti version $999.95 Stainless version $779.95. BTW he said they still have the stock ECU on the bike aswell!!! They do have the GET system but he told me they haven't played with it much yet. I will be getting back to him prior to purchasing the pipe to see how he feels then but IMO if this bike gains just a little over rev it will be perfect!!

By the way Darin you lucky Ba$tard thnx for the invite to come down and ride...lol we're at a balmy 9 degrees here today with 3-4 inches of snow by Friday!!! Spring can't come soon enough for me****************************************!

OK, if it's (mainly) over rev, maybe a slip on exhaust is already doing the job pretty well. Anyone has experiences with a Q4 from FMF? I love to keep the sound levels low...

RD here is the thread from the Two Stroke section where I did my sons bike. In there has some good info on how I polish stuff. The Italians use good metal in these bikes. That's where the shine comes from.

I love that thread thanks - lots of good info - I will have a read re frame painting also
Im not sure about powdercoating option for swing arm - looks good in black - I guess thats the much dearer option
Not to derail thread but you would nt know the standard colour code of the darker grey 125 clutch covers and the lighter grey frame?
