• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

To win a National Enduro with all that's involved; time, talent, determination, It pays $500 bucks. $500 bucks, is this real? How many entrants at the Sandlapper, paying entrants this would be and at what cost? Over 400. It's easy to make money in America. Why would anyone bother when you could go to the WEC, at least you would see the world and get great food not to mention ride with the very best.
J.D. Friebel,Matt Ludwig, and Jacob Lilly , not to forget Pros Jason Thomas and Bobby Norwood all had a stellar performance this last weekend. Big Hand for these Huskyettes..........

It is somewhat unfortunate that that is the top prize from the promoter. However, as Dwight states, there is more there than meets the eye. Same as in big sports. The athaletes Salary is one thing but the endorsements from outside sponsors as well as side bonuses and end of year accomplishments are the big payout. Again, remember, off road is the red headed step child of racing when you compare it to MX an SX. Is it fair that Lafferty busts his butt in the saddle for 5 hours at a National Enduro for a mere $500 compared to a MX guys 2 30 minute motos or a 20 minute SX final? HELL NO. Finnally, if off road is the red headed step child than Enduro is the bottom feeder. Compare with GNCC, the Nationals always get much less. Some GNCC have 10,000 purse. It is what it is and the off road guys do what they do out of the love.

There isn't a lot of money at the end of a racing weekend for the hosting club to give out. There are a ton fees associated with the running of an enduro. Off the top of my head, Insurance $2000 for the weekend, Ambulance $100/hr per day, AMA/Local District fees 5%, BLM/NF assessment $10,000(non refundable if denied, and rider capped), and trophy's and finisher pins $500+. There might be a couple I forgot, but a club will make some profit if lucky.

I think you all are right, it does seem a little unfair by comparison though. On the plus side it is a format where anyone can enter and run, it has a involvement feel to it for a family outing. Just finishing is trophy enough for my age group. I appreciate the feedback.
