  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Need Urgent Help - Looking at TXC Right Now

I'm new to Huskys and I'm at the dealer after having driven several hundred miles to look at a used 2011 TXC 449 with 1200mi. Three test drives later it's still puking oil on my left foot. Last test - oil was drained and exactly 1 qt added back. Filter was not changed. I can't see a breather anywhere. The oil is coming from a small 1/8" hole in the head. I have attached a picture. Bike runs great and I hate to walk away if this is something simple. Any advice appreciated.

Well I ended up taking the bike. I was told that the hole in the cylinder head is a weep hole for the spark plug opening in the head and the oil indicates that the seal between the opening in the valve cover and the opening in the head is compromised. Since the issue was potentially just a gasket I bought it - with some guarantees from the seller. One of the first things I planned was the crank pressure relief mod to the valve cover so a gasket was in the future anyway. My new concern is getting it insured and licensed. Looks like it was converted to dual sport with the addition of lights. My insurance company said the VIN was a no go - so we'll see what happens.

i have no experience with the newer 4 strokes but from the tons i have read on here you should seek out zip ty for your needs. sounds they have the platform down pat! good luck!

If oil is dripping from that weep hole, then you need a new valve cover gasket around the spark plug well. If the oil is all over the top of the head, then it is being blown through the air filter from the breather vent.

ZipTy Breather oil accesories are number 12&13 on this list:

Thanks Tinken Your breather vent and some XF coolant are at the top of my list. I'll be ordering soon.

I'm in North Carolina. Progressive is the one telling me the bike doesn't exist.

Just went through this with State Farm in Ohio. Did you tell them it's a TXC? I think their database is set up for models that are street legal from the get-go(TE and SMR). I had to tell her it was a converted dirt bike and she said she'd have to attach a note when submitting the change. She also said she'd probably get a 'nastygram' back about it. Hopefully it won't get rejected. It's been a while and I haven't got the card in the mail yet.... They didn't say anything about the Yammie WR250F I had before.
