  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Need updated cam and ECU info for 2010 x-lite

Trying to find the bulletin for the updated cam and ECU for the 2010 TC 250. I bought my demo bike from a dealership who stated all updated were done. I specifically asked salesman if they all updates were done. After my first ride this weekend I dont think they were done. The serial # on my bike ends with 75 so it is an early model. My ECU has an A in it, which means it is the original ECU. Was this a free update for owners? New ECU Is $180 and cam I forget but should be in the $150 range. Didnt count on spending another $350 on bike!! How hard is to replace cam in these motors?
Thanks

I bought mine used and had to buy the cam myself. :/ I think it was more than $150, but maybe i'm remembering it wrong. Halls Cycle helped me figure out this problem, so they could probably locate that bulletin for you. My mechanically-inclined friend just bent the end of the spring on the old cam and it actually worked just as good (much easier to kick start) as the new cam I put in, but I used the new one just to be sure. If that dealer said all the updates were done, then they should have to replace it since they obviously didn't bother to confirm! Cam is incredibly easy to replace as the cam chain is driven by a separate cog so you don't have to mess with it. I put it at TDC, removed the bolts (keeping track of which hole they came from as they are different lengths), gently lifted the exhaust cam out so as not to move anything, then dropped the new cam back into position. Checked valve clearance while I was in there and double-checked my marks. Then (apprehensively as I had never done work in the engine) started the bike up and there was no boom!

There never was an official bulletin on this in Canada anyhow, but I know I had Husqvarna replace some ECUs and cams under "goodwill" warranty.
