• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Need help identifying bike model...

Husqvarna
AA Class
I Bought a TE 450 recently an I'm new to the site. I have also been keeping an eye out for a vintage bike to ride and tinker with. I came across a husky on craigslist yesterday that is listed as an 86 Husqvarna 250. It clearly is not an 86. My guess is a 79 to 81 CR or WR 250. Can you all help identify by the pics?

I did the google search, that's how I narrowed it down to what I think is 79-81. I'll call the seller and get the vin.

Yes, I think you are right

I missed that item earlier :banghead:

Wasn't it in -79 they introduced the "new" airfilter box?
Then my guess would be a -79 250 WR

It is a 79 250 WR . Remote reservoir shocks on 79 and 80. New air box came in 79. Definitely not a 78 as it has the 79/80 WR frame. Has the WR exhaust.

Thanks Husky T. I went last night and looked at it and got the frame and engine numbers and looked them up at huskyclub.com. You're right it is a 79 250 WR. The bike started right up it clearly needs a good bit of cosmetic work. The only engine piece that didn't work right from first glance is the kick start lever return spring (causing it to pull back up) came loose or broke. This leads me to my next question. What do you think it's worth. He's asking $350. I was going to offer $200. It will be for a fun little project bike to tinker with and try to restore a bit.

Any opinions?

Thanks for all the help,
Matt
