  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Anyone recommend what to use for a hole measuring .650 inch or 16.6mm?

Thanks guys, I have one on order that may work. Plastic is probably too thin to screw one on.

Years ago or decades ago I took a hex bolt and drilled and tapped a 1/8" npt thread. I installed it in that hole with two o rings. The bolt on the inside. I used a lawn mower threaded gas tank shut off. It worked. Probably 25 years ago.

hit up your local ski-doo dealer for the tank grommet and then the local lawn mower shop for a push (barb) style petcock.

Measure the hole in the gas tank. It's either 5/8" or 3/4" that's the size hex head bolt you need.

You drill a hole down the center of the bolt. You tap the outer end 1/8" npt. Install a rubber o ring under the head of the bolt using a 3' piece of TIG welding wire you guide the bolt to the hole inside the tank through the filler opening. Install another o ring, flatwasher, nut. Using a long extension on a wratchet tighten the outer nut. Do not turn the bolt inside do the o ring doesn't get distorted. Install the male 1/8"npt valve with the hose barb.

What do you do wth the kicker rubber cushion to make it stay on? Everyone I put on new slides off.

when i used to use that style i had good luck safety wiring the ends of the rubber. i have abandoned those and run the single shock kicker on them now tho...the bullhorn kicker is not a fav.

the bike is starting to really pop! nice work
