• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Need a little help please.

Hi.

I have a 2001 TE570, and had to replace the kick starter shaft the other day.
When I had assembled everything, but before putting in new oil I was going to move the bike, and when putting it in neutral I discovered that the gear pedal would not return to center. I took off the cover again to find the spring that is supposed to center the pedal had come loose in one end. I tried to figure out how it was supposed to be, but didn't get it right.
Please have a look at this photo and see if you can see what is wrong.

Thanks
Steinar.

When you put it on missed on the line up with the pin in the cover, it's bent now so get a new one. And try one more time.

Hi George, and thank you for the input.
I think everything was lined up ok, and i gently tapped on the cover when mounting it to make sure everything was seating ok, and the cover was fully seated before I put the bolts in.
Is there any way to check for straightness? And I assume you mean the shaft that the gear pedal mounts to?

Steinar.

yes steinar.
slots need to merge. pins on cases need to fit just right. when putting on hold shifter too and wiggle slighlty up and down as if up/down shifting and slits and pins will line up. Try to never tap on.

No. You messed up the spring. As it sits it should appear symetrical. Need new spring.

When you put the new spring on the shift link arm must be to the back of the case. Then the pin in the cover must go inside where the spring crosses itself. with cover on before bolts gently lift shifter up then down not as in trying to find gears, just a gentel lift and push down. if the tension feels different pull cover off and try again because you miised the alignment. Reason you bent the 1st spring.
