• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Nearly New 1970 Husky Tank

Nice if that's all we need for a perfect restoration for a museum piece maybe it's worth it? For a bike in the living Room?

I just picked up a excellent '83 larger diamond shaped tank for my '83 430wr. I found the smaller 175 diamond shape tank the needs paint. I been collecting gas tanks.

Yeah, go ahead and spend all that money on it and then find out later that it is not 100% correct or some of the lettering is off by even just a little bit and your restoration is down the tubes because that's the first thing the collectors will see and gladly point out to you... This guy is on crack in my opinion.

Guys/gals trust me it's only money but the tank adds to the look of the bike which is priceless. You can cleanup the plastics and spray them white but the tank has to be perfect. I'm very critical when it comes to a restortation if I'm looking for originality.

Rustolium white gloss works well on side panels and fenders if you prep them right. I figure used plastics for riding and new plastics put away for the bike.

Another thing to consider about the price of this tank is the replacement cost. Used these 1970 side fill tanks go for $300-$400 then add new chrome at $350 (in California anyways), professional paint with correct color and decals is another $425, de-rusting the inside and shipping or driving 100 miles for delivery and you have $1,200 to $1,300 invested in the tank, once again..... that's in California anyways.
