• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Narrowest handlebar switch

Running an 08 TE that I need to keep street legal, so I need the turn signal, headlight, and horn switch on the left side. I cut the bars as short as I can go and still get all the crap on, but with an enduro coming up, I want to put the computer thumb-switch on the left side and don't have much room. I'm looking for the narrowest replacement switch out there for my stock 7/8" bars. I saw Baja designs makes a "slim fit" model. Is there anything slimmer - has anyone replaced their factory switch with the Baja switch?

I have the K&S 12-055 Narrow Offroad Switch

It is about half as thick as most left hand switches.
It is available from many retailers/ Parts Unlimited and is also repackaged and distributed now- like through RockyMountainATVMC as a Tusk part. I have the "original" but its probably all the same. IT WILL NOT BE PLUG AND PLAY. So you'll have to get intamate with your soldering iron, and schematic.
Here it is on my bike: you can kinda make it out: I have Protaper EVO Windham RM-Mid bars and I cut about 1/2"-3/4" off each side- I measured what I needed before cutting (important)...

That's a great little item. I recently ordered one for my 86 KDX 200. About thirty bucks from Rocky Mountain MC. Came with a little color code list, so all was easy. I have these really nice Japanese OEM style connectors and connector boots, so I just snipped off the big gang connector and wired everything up. Everything being the turn signals and horn. I left the lights connected to their original switch.

Yup, that's the same one I keep seeing at all the places. By the specs it's about 16 mm narrower than my stock unit and ought to work just fine.
