  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Nakedness At The Checkpoint

I found this photo on the Race Tech website. It brings back memories of early desert racing days in the 70's when naked chicks on the course would flash the riders when racing by. This photo looks like they're actually marking tank cards at a check point. I don't imagine its done any longer.

Is that John Penton on that first bike? Someone should ask John Penton if that's him?

I think my bike would break down there. Ohhh baby.

Yeah like the Masterlinks Virgin run, think I was 15 bout 71' or 72'

I remember the Masterlinks virgin run. The Desert Daisys were another club that drew attendance with nakedness.

That's the first thing I ask when I enter a race , Is there gonna be Naked Girls at the check points ****************************************

I lived for those D-37 desert races all thru high school. Man, we had a line up in those days.Rode the BtoV a couple times. Was in the Rovers for awhile, fun fun

If my aging memory is correct...
That was an Enduro up in NE...Massachusetts I think...and each year they had a checkpoint at a Nudist Colony.
I used to have a NE Trailrider Magazine with a number of other photos...one with a young man gazing at you-know-what with eye-balls as big as saucers.
I'll see if I can find it.

only ever had big ugly blokes at vic enduro checkpoints:(
fuel dumps were a bit better but nothing like that!!! imagine doing that today!!! shot down in flames im sure

I contacted Race Tech and They got back to me and confirmed it is John Penton in the picture. How awesome is that?

Might be The Burr Oak Enduro, which ran through Naked City in Roselawn, Indiana. I still race a hare scrambles there every year in May.
