  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Mystery oil leak tc250 2010

Hi everyone i'm new here and new to the huski range. Glad to be here and meet you all. So to the problem, I went for a ride yesterday out in the bush with plenty of single trails and tough hill climbs. The bike was running perfectly all ride. Just before I got back to the ute I looked down and noticed a small amount of oil "sprayed" onto my left boot and the left side of the engine had a thin layer of oil coated on it and by the time I loaded the bike and got it home there was a small patch of oil in the back of my ute. I had a look once it was unloaded and couldn't find a leak of any sort anywhere. When i got the bike out this morning for a good clean there was no oil on the floor under the bike and there has been no oil leaked since. Also the bike has only done about 5hrs now. Any ideas?

Welcome to the site and to Husky!

You didn't have a bolt back out, did you? The bolt holding the cam chain slider backed out on my husband's 450 and the outcome was exactly as you described. Oil would only spray when the motor was running. Or maybe it could have come out of the weep hole under the water pump? I had that happen on my 250 once when the spark plug seal fell out as I was putting the top back on the engine. Just some guesses out of the dark. You might post a pic if you haven't washed it yet.

Could be from the clutch banjo bolt. Also sometimes when the engine oil is only slightly overfilled it will be shot into the airbox from the engine breather hose and drip onto the engine but usuall towards the rear. A slight possibility. If you can find no other leaks check under your air filter for oil.

Thanks for the welcome. I had a look everywhere again for an sign of oil leaks and there is not a drop to be found and there is no oil in the airbox. But im fairly certain that it came from the weep hole under the water pump. From the position of the hole and where oil ended up its the only explanation. Thanks for the tip there phoenix!

My 08 TXC250 appears to be doing the same leaking ...Be sure oil is not leaking out the valve cover and running down onto the water pump cover ..

I have the same issue with oil from the weep hole (replaced water pump gaskets three times before i realised ...too old too stupid!!), any solutions Folks?
Too much Oil?
Should there be a plug in that hole, loooks like it could suck dust in on bad rides (like my last one!!)
