  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

MY2013 TE511 Clutch not disengaging.

Keep in mind DOT 3/4/5.1 are all similar (polyethylene glycol based) and DOT 5 is different (silicone based). There could be issues using DOT 5 fluid in a system designed for DOT 3/4/5.1. For a clutch that doesn't see high temps DOT 3 or 4 is most cost effective. For brake systems 5.1 has highest boiling point.

Still perplexed by this as the only way the wrong fluid could have been used was at the dealership and for a time they were the largest dealer on the east coast. Still mistakes happen I guess.

I guess I can flush the system with brake cleaner, refill with Dot 4 and hope for the best before replacing all the seals? Anything special to look for in the brake cleaner?

Do not use brake cleaner. If you need to, you can use denatured alcohol, other wise, just flush with brake fluid.

Most likely someone confused the old husqvarna's which used magura clutch and magura blood (dot 5) sillicone fluid, with the new husqvarna's which used brembo masters and dot 3,4,and 5.1 fluid.

Otherwise maybe it just got pinched funny like.

This is true, alcohol is the best bet if you're going to try to use any of the rubber parts that have already been contaminated (which won't work anyway). If you're cleaning metal parts and buying new rubber parts brake cleaner is fine.

Unfortunately this is one of the most expensive screw ups that can happen to a brake or clutch system

Do you recall when this change took place? I feel like if I could tie it back to the dealership they would take care of me but I'd like to be fairly certain before accusing anyone. Can anyone confirm that the line arrives dry at the dealership and is filed their instead of the factory?

I don't understand "pinched funny like".
