    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Just got word from the dealer that my 2011 TE630 has arrived. Just waiting on the power up kit and some tuning before they ship it to me. I couldn't pass up the sale price. Mine was $3,000 off msrp, but they were able to find around a grand worth of fees and shipping costs to get me right at $7,000 all-in. They sent me a few teaser pics to tide me over.

Not sure how I feel about the big 630 on the sides. I had gotten so used to the earlier graphics. I'm sure I'll get used to these too. The mechanic who put it together said it was a little gutless (compared to what?).

I ordered the power up kit with it and they're charging me a hour and a half for labor to install and tune the bike. They say the factory procedure on installing the kit calls for some remapping of the fuel curve. I'm anxious to see what it's like. I have no reference to go by, so it will run however it runs when it arrives. I found it at a dealer in Tucson, AZ since there are no Husky dealers in the DFW area (come on Husqvarna, DFW is a huge market to not have a presence) and very few willing to cut me as good of a deal. Not supposed to get here until next weekend.
 
I like the big 630 on the side. Strange that some bikes have it and some do not. Should have my bikes today or tomorrow so i hope it has the numbers on it.
 
I prefer that "630" to the big "630SMS" on the side of mine.
I've been putting around on mine, waiting on the powerup kit.
Make sure they yank the airbox restrictor (plate behind the filter) out before they tune and ship it to you.

Thanks, I"ll be sure to call them tomorrow about yanking the air box restrictor plate before they do the tune. I hadn't thought about that. The power up kit is supposed to arrive tomorrow.
 
the tank side panels are also different than mine and the H on the front fender is red on mine not black

The bike's been at the dealership for a week now and I was just informed that the power up kit arrived yesterday afternoon. They intend to install it either today or tomorrow and that they have a call into the shipper to arrange transport from AZ to TX. They've sold another bike to a guy near Houston, TX, so they've gone ahead with scheduling delivery. Probably won't see it for another week. :(
 
Just heard from the truck driver that he'll be here in the morning! He said it was a really cool bike, so I'm thinking he must really know his dirt bikes.:D
 
Enjoy your machine! Lots of good practical suggestions (upgrades, etc) are popping up everyday on these bikes....
 
One problem arose that I hadn't addressed prior to delivery. I had somehow forgotten that my wife hadn't been informed of the new addition to the fleet. :naughty:After spending the day doing things she wanted to do and my assurance that I would sell one of the other bikes, she's now on board with the new family member. :cool:I do have to say that she was the one who taught me that it's easier to say your sorry than to ask for permission. :DAnyway, on to the bike! She's a beaut! Much nicer than I actually expected. Fit and finish is superb (with one exception, which I will get to later). The goodie bag the dealer sent along with the bike had the tool kit, axle wrench, USB drive with the operator and service manual, a paper service manual, a fisher price looking keychain and something else that I'm clueless what it is or what it's for (a small plastic thing on a small chain). The truck drivers went on and on about how cool they thought it was. One has a Husky in his garage back home. It sure makes my XR600R look like an antique (it's a '97 model, so maybe it is an antique). I had asked them to remove the airbox restrictor before they tuned it after installing the p/u kit, which they did, but now the side panel doesn't fit very well. The restrictor plate doesn't appear to have anything to do with how the panel fits and my attempts at just popping it off and reinstalling it have made no difference. There was a bunch of greasy fingerprints from where they worked on it and failed to clean up afterthemselves, which was disappointing, but easily rectified. Anyway, I'm looking forward to this evening when the temps drop below 100 to take a spin. The mirrors are a bit orthopedic, but I have plans to change those out when I do the HDB guards and mirrors, and I'm still on the fence about whether or not I like the automatic kickstand. Meanwhile here are some pics.

In an effort to see if the misfitting side panel wasn't just a simple realignment of the cover, I took the airbox cover off and double checked everything. The cover wasn't seated properly, and the rubber nub at the bottom of the side panel wasn't touching the muffler like it was on the other side, so I reinstalled the airbox cover and tweaked the right side muffler, which didn't really help anything. The panel gaps at the rear fender are a bit off, so I'm going to loosen up the bolts and see if I can get that sorted out. I finally decided that I couldn't wait any longer and took it for a spin around the 'hood. She's pretty mild mannered until you get a bit agressive with the throttle, then hang on! The gearbox is a bit notchy, but that's to be expected with a brand new bike. The top end has it's own special rattle. Seems everyone of my bikes has it's own sound that I have to get used to. I really like the sound of the stock exhaust and the bike doesn't seem heavy to me at all. It feels lighter than my XR600, even though I know it's not (but it's pretty close to the same weight). I'm used to riding my 600 lb Triumph Tiger, so just about any dirt bike would feel like a flyweight in comparison. The poor side panel fit is driving me nuts, as it's the only gripe I have at this point. I'm worried that if left uncorrected, I'll catch my boot on it or something similar and jack it all up. The panel doesn't look to be warped, so it's got to be an adjustment of some kind.
 
After standing out in the 107 degree heat, the errant side panel is fitting a pinch better. Took it for another spin around the 'hood and it handles much better than my old XR. It's supposed to be heavier, but it feels much lighter. I really like the exhaust note. Loud enough to hear the engine work, but quiet enough to keep my neighbors from calling the wife.:naughty: The top end sure rattles, but it's brand new and not worth complaining about until it's broken in. I think it is perfect for what I was wanting. A capable dirt bike that is street legal and has an electric start. I've rode XR600's since they first came out in the mid 80's and I always hated to be in an awkward situation trying to kick start a hot big bore single. The XR's were never as bad as my old '79 XT500 Yamaha. And you just can't beat the price.:D
