• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

My little 500cc Cafe' racer project...

I sold my crazy fast street bikes a few years ago. I kinda miss having a street bike to tool around on but don't want anything fast anymore. To that end I looked around the shop and realized I had a good amount of stuff to make me a little cafe racer bike. So I took one good running but kinda left for dead TT500 and started in. Got it this far and ordered some parts this morning to move the project forward. Should not take a ton more to get it on the road at least as a roller. Want to get it going and then worry about making it look cool later. I have shorter shocks coming, already have the exhaust sorted and a cool shorty muffler. Should be a hoot to ride.

Probably will not use that tank as it is pretty beat. Will also be cutting the rear frame loop off. Probably run the rear wheel for now. Might get a Lectron one day when closer to complete. I have $400 in it as it sits. Fun little project.

Maybe source a matching rear wheel too. Does that swingarm use bushings or bearnigs? A nice box section swingarm would be nice. Then you can place caliper and shock mounts as desired.

add frame gussets welded on triangles and gusset the swingarm as well..and good suspension..
related side story when I was a early 90s San Diego street squid with my Yam FZR1000 rocket, riding with various locals and groups mostly with the BMW club guys on Sunday mornings, there was a guy with a super trick Yamaha SR5 or 600 don't remember which, he was a very good rider and would smoke the majority of us in the back county twisty roads on that thing, straight aways withstanding of course.

that alloy TT tank is bitchen, clean it up and get it mounted it will dress that little thing up very nicely.

One step at a time. Going to get it road worthy and then make it cool. Long term project when I have time for it. Would like to get it ridable soon though.

Had some time to fart around with it a little this weekend. Getting closer. Headlight, short shocks, pod filter, subframe cut off, tank polished. Tank is rough but kinda like the rough and tumble look it gives it. Might just run it as is for now. Found out CBR F2 rear wheels and swingarm can be had for cheap so might go that route after measuring some stuff up.
