• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

My first SEM ignition

Years ago On my first SEM ignition on my 1983 250wr husqvarna we rode it for the first time and it ran awesome. When we got home I washed it and it wouldn't start. I purchased another used SEM and she ran. My p point is I didn't silicone the ignition cover on the first ride. Now fast forward to today my 84 250wr isn't sealed either.
And she runs.

I don't get it? Are they that fragile?? (That's Italian lol)

apparently the cover is sealing somewhat. the 430 ive been riding had a similar problem with a motoplat. riding thru large puddles the bike would shut off for about 60 seconds...happened pretty reliable eery time. i bought the bike from my friend and after going over the bike i installed my hva factory aluminum cover and have rode it twisce now with no problems in the water.

so are you tempting fate by not sealing it again?

It runs in the yard for now. She's not ready for action yet.

These sem ignitions are that bad?

Once I figure out which one is my main ride I'll buy a new better quality ignition,

Its electronic, it does not need to be sealed water tight. If yours failed it had nothing to do with the cover being sealed or not sealed. Not only do I not seal my electronic magnetos (on any bike) I put a drain hole on the bottom (if it doesnt already have one) so any water that gets in can drain out.

So does that mean I can soak my SEM stators in Evapo-Rust to clean the rust off the poles? I did that on 4 rusted rotors and they look like new now.
