  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Hey Lapper, yes i had to get to the front of the pack, i was testing how
the bike accelerated and handled. after coming off a KTM250 i was very impressed no head shake at speed, deflection and awesome acceleration.

Looks like a good riding area, maybe a few too many trees for my taste but....
 
wasnt really on the pipe up the hill - do you find its easy to get on the pipe compared to KTM ? I am finding 125 on I have to be fully committed - ok on small hills to chug up but not slippery or sandy big ones

i just chugged up the hill, the gearing 14-48 was no good for steep hills without a lot of clutch work.

a 125 is a different beast all together, it wants scream, give it hell and keep up the regular piston changes.

The KTM is a great bike but the Husky does everything better
Husky feels lighter, turns better and stops quicker
KTM is very versatile with a better gearbox and better parts availability
especially aftermarket parts.

has anyone got a long range tank on their 2009 model WR250?

i took the bike south of melbourne to tasmania with 20 friends for 4 days of riding :cheers:

I had to be careful, shit was breaking off the husky every day, and i didnt want to DNF. by the end the tail light and head light were taped on, the sub frame was bent, i had skid marks on the side panels, a sheared speed cable, tape keeping the shroud stickers on, a very anoying overheating rear brake and junked up tyres. oh did i mention the kickstand broke off at the bolt durring a river crossing

It turns out the eliptical adjuster on the rear brake has not enough freeplay causing the brake to overheat.

That hillclimb looks like good fun!

I didn't even bother with the headlight, taillight or the computer as I'm very prone to breaking things.
I actually bent my subframe a few weeks ago too. Down in the desert for 4 days with about 20 friends. Parallel universe!?!?
