    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

LF.jpgRF.jpg Last week I was reunited with my first Husky, a 1983 WR 250. I purchased this bike new on February 03, 1983 from Buckland Cycles in Southington, Connecticut. I raced this bike in the NETRA Junior Enduro Series and a few of the Hare Scrambles that year, along with my first Alligator Enduro during Bike Week in Daytona Florida. I sold this bike in 1984 to a fellow Meriden Motorcycle Club member, who then sold it to another fellow member and friend, Tony Mazur. He rode it until the ignition quit in 1988, and then parked it. I offered to buy it back many times thru the years, but Tony always said "I'm going to fix it up someday". Well, fast forward to last week, Tony was cleaning out his garage, uncovered the bike, and he called me and said - come and get it! Talk about a flood of memories! He even gave me back the title with my name on it! Frame and motor serial numbers match the original title, along with my hand written "notes" in the original manual from 1983!

She is going to receive a bath and a complete mechanical freshening ASAP. I'm not going to restore her, they are only original once. :banana::banana::banana:
 
Great story , bet you were smiling all the way home ! I also have been reunited with an old friend , an 1981 Cr430 which I bought new in ct . Mine was sold in 1982 and I lost track of it . In 2009 looking thru craigs list I found 2 adds for a 81 cr430 and called the owner . I spent 2 hrs talking about the bike with him . We drove down to long island in an ice storm to see it and brought pictures with me . It was just about 100% as I last had it needless to say I didn't come home empty handed . I was sure this was my last husky I owned . A couple of years later I was working near the shop I bought the bike from and he was still there so I stopped in to say hi after all these years . Wouldn't you know , he still had records of my purchase and gave me all the serial numbers .... They matched ! I have been enjoying that bike since , should have it running again soon .
 
Congrats enjoy your old friend here's my first husky i bought new in 77 it never left my possession i am going to put it back to original this summer.

I am jealous! I will never get my first Husky back, the closest I could get was the same year and model. I agree with you, I wish more people went with the "it is only original once" theory.
 
So I take it that its not for sale ????? lol
Good luck with your bike I am sure you will be grinning like a possum eat n a peach seed when you take that first spin.
 
This thread has got me thinking about the guy I bought my 85 wrx from. It was his first husky and he bought it new right down the street from wear he lives. I couldn't believe it when he told me but I have had it about 3 years now and have not done much with it and I think I may shoot him a email and offer it back to him if he wants.
