• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

My evaluation of the ALTRider skid plate

Are you saying the B&B is out of production? I have a factory one but the lack of wings is causing some damage here and the floating rear design (plus dents in the plate) allowed my drain plug to be exposed. I caught a rock just perfectly and it actually spun the plug about 1/4 turn deforming it and casing the bike to leak a bit of oil. Thankfully I discovered the damage fairly quickly but I don't want to go through that again.

A little late responding. What i meant was I put off getting one, and when i finally got around to purchasing one, shipping the Altrider plate was much quicker, because Bill's had it in stock versus waiting a week+ from AUS for the B&B. I do like the B&B plate more I think.:excuseme:

When I bought my bike the dealer had already installed the factory skid plate and I certainly got my moneys worth out of it. A few weeks ago I bottomed out on a huge A frame rock and hit the drain plug so that it deformed the bolt and spun it maybe a quarter turn loose. I didn't realize it at the time but the next morning I saw a bit of oil under the bike. You can also see in the other pic where I had scraped the outer case as the plate didn't extend out enough. I went with the Altrider and am very pleased with the quality and ease of the install. FullSizeRender (1).jpgFullSizeRender (2).jpgFullSizeRender (3).jpgFullSizeRender (4).jpg
