My 2011 had the standard 13/ 50 offroad final drive gear set, I went to a 52 tooth rear because I was shifting back forth into 1st on some of trails, with the 52 I could stay in smoother 2nd gear and hit 3rd and up when needed.
So for my 2013 I put the 52 on immediately and have been on that since I got the TXC310R....lately Ive found myself being jerky and not smooth with the 52 low gear.
sooo I went 50 .
The crew immediatly commented that I was carrying more speed around corners and riding much smoother. I felt it after a couple loops of getting used to the new gear set. My mostly unridden TE310 has had the 50 rear back on it for a while now as well. Maybe the OEM/race team had something there with 13/50 combo attached to the internal gearing....I know its still very personal by riding type, skill level, bike feel etc etc .
I am just resold on the OEM final drive set up of 13/50
added bonus is that I used the same chain and my axle is waaay back in the adjustment for super smooth suspension action and smooth turn in transitions. This bike the TXC310Redhead is the s&%t, hey and my TE310 Blackhead is super good and is still very competitive as well as well. R
