  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc My 250 upgrade

The 'Gun Site' logo may look good on your swing arm. I think I paid $20 from Decal Works.

Think about replacing your rear CR rotor to the bigger one like all the rest of the Husky line up has Halls or Zip Ty have them in stock also comes with a shark fin and no more rattle as the rotor will bolt up direct to the hub

I have the Race disc from England on there right now. It bolts up direct also. Next time I need a disc I'll look at the bigger ZipTy unit.

Well, I'm happy to report that the bike works great. Rear brake works as good or better with the new master cylinder. The pipe works very much like the DEP, but I need to run them back to back for any detailed break down, and the CR ignition with the JD ignition box is killer. It will break traction a little easier than it did with the smaller flywheel, but the Provini TEC keeps it in check. The up side is it pulls taller gears even better than before, while allowing you to still have great throttle response to keep the front wheel up in whooped out sections or to clear junk at speed. The WR set up pulled tall gears really well, but was a little slow responding to throttle blips. Now it responds like it's running a gear lower, but still has that gear higher smooth delivery. Very cool. And the top end is killer. Top end pull feels more like it did when it was a 300.
Did have a little octane rattle at about 1/4 throttle under heavy loads. I'm sure it's the JD ignitions more aggressive timing curve, but it's so mild I think I can jet it out without getting it too fat.

Overall I'm very happy with the upgrades. And BTW, the silencer passed sound check.

Hay brother nice 10 model I put a DEP system on my 300 it's for 250 but it works
Probably a bit more responsive on the throttle
Cheers mitch

Motorhead, nice bike! Did you fabricate the bracket for the ECU or is that a stock part that you adapted? I need something like that for the FBF/JD ignition for my 125.

Yeah, I'm back on the DEP. I like it better on the 250. I think the Scalvini would be better on a 300. It's good on the 250, but I like the DEP better.

I adapted a bracket from a '08 CR125. It's mounted to the stock point and the regulator mount. It's working really well.

Nice bike! Need a product and ride report. ex. what does the Polini tec valve do ?
What is the power band like ? etc. Thanks for your input

The Provini TEC is a damper for the power valve. It regulates the rates of opening, but free to close. There are 5 positions on it, from no dampening to it's max. The best way to describe it is like an adjustable FWW. It controls how fast the motor revs. I run it full on most on most of the time. Pretty cool tool.

The way I have the bike set up now it has a very wide power band. It pulls off the bottom really well, like a stock 250, but from there it's just more of everything, especially the top. It can torque around like a WR is famous for, then builds hard. It's not a huge hit or anything that's hard to control, but a very strong pull. With the TEC turned down it's got more punch, but I still don't consider it a hard hit, even with the CR ignition.

I've gone back to the DEP pipe. It revs a little faster and is very strong on top. It just feels like it never stops pulling. The Scalvini is a great pipe, but I guess I'm just hooked on the DEP. They are very close, IMO. The Scalvini is made a lot better and the fit is way better, but I think the DEP may have it on top. I think they may have aimed it more at the 300 and the DEP was designed for the 250.

This is my attempt to upgrade a 2010 WR300 into a 2013 CR250. I've swapped about all the WR parts for CR parts, like the rear brake, axles, ignition and so on. I converted it to a 250 last year, so I just went for a winter re-freshening. Hope you like.

Very nice! Lots of cook bits.
I didn't know there was a rear brake difference between CR and WR.
