    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

I race enduros and some harescrambles. I have a 2011 TE 250 that's pretty worn out, but I know the bike like the back of my hand and the suspension is valved for me perfectly. I either need to do a rebuild with the motor and clutch this winter or, I have the opertunity to get a low hr cr 125 for a good price.

Pros- I know my bike well and generally like 4 strokes.
My bike is suspended and valved for my weight perfectly
I really like the button
The cr 125 should be much lighter than mine
The cr should last quite awhile,it's almost new.

Cons-
I generall don't get along with carbs
I "think" the cr suspension would be too stiff for tight woods
I "think" the cr engine probably isn't easy to ride in the tight woods

Thoughts?
 
The CR engine is exceptionally easy to ride in the woods, and with a few minor mods is even better. The carb is simple - there's a plug and play option that works, and the suspension is pretty soft. What do you weigh?

I use my CR predominantly as a woods bike. I would highly recommend it.
 
I'm around 170. I haven't had a 2 stroke for 20 years. I know I'm just whining now but I like the e start. I don't think the CR has e start? Any idea on weight difference between them?
 
I think you will find that the cr is a huge improvement over your TE. The bikes are very light and flickable. I'm 175lbs. And switched from a husky cr250 3 years ago. I race xc and enduros on mine. Ive never looked back. No, there is no button. Yes, the ignition is much hotter than the wr and the hit comes on fast. The suspension on my 08 works fine in the bush but better when you are pushing it. Mine have grown from a 125 to a 144 and now a 165. I had some issues getting the bike working well for me early this season but seem to have sorted it out and now I'm faster than I've ever been. I have a lectron carb which is very easy to set up the bike gets great fuel mileage. Maintenance is a breeze on the little bikes. I can do a top end in under an hour.
