    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Motoz X-Circuit bead issue ?????

After mounting my front Motoz X-Circuit I noticed that the front has a rim saver bead. The rear bead doesn't look the same as the front. I broke the bead on the rear tire several times and soaked it with WD 40 the several times with glass cleaner every time the bead looks the same (see pic). My guage only goes to 75 psi and I passed that so I'm guessing there isn't a pressure issue. Can anyone confirm that the rear bead is CORRECT? I drove it around the driveway and it feels ok but I'm nervous no knowing if the rear should match the front bead, please help. the first pic is the front tire. the last two are rear.

I guess you got this from Kelly, so give him a call or PM. I'd say you're fine but I'm no expert.

Yes, correct. I did call him earlier this afternoon and sent pics. He said he'd get back to me in 15 mins +/- after he returned from an errand. That was over 4 hours ago. There must be others running the Motoz X-Circuit's feel free to chime in (please).
 
the rear is not all the way beaded. deflate, unbead it, soak it with warm water and soap, hit it again. Is it the same all the way around? Usually you will get one spot that does not want to snap onto the bead but not all the way around. Odd. Front looks like it should.

the sidewall and bead are both identical and symmetrical on both sides and throughout entire circumference. I spent almost an hour breaking the rear bead and reinflating with the same result every time. would driving it help or hurt? would it be dangerous?
 
That is weird. So does it seem fully seated? Riding will be OK and not dangerious. Heck I have seen buddy Jake ride all day with his rear tire unbeaded :D sometimes it will soften, move and be EZer to bead. Your rim lock is way loose when you do this right? I can't figure out how it is the same all the way around. did the tire have a big rim saver on it like the front before you mounted it?
 
That doesn't look like it's seated on the rear. Did you leave it out in the sun for a while? I had issues seating the bead, but like Kelly said it usually seats most of the way, but maybe just one area where it didn't. In that case I used WD40 (I always use WD40 when changing tires) and bounced on the tire while pumping it up at the same time...yeah it looks ridiculous.

Riding will be OK and not dangerious. Heck I have seen buddy Jake ride all day with his rear tire unbeaded sometimes it will soften, move and be EZer to bead. I took it for a 5 mile ride, pulled the valve core and soaked it with HOT soapy dish water and still get same result?

did the tire have a big rim saver on it like the front before you mounted it?not sure, didn't notice but when I break the bead I can see the rim tape. If I took a pic could you tell if it has a rim saver?
 
I also tried airing it with a tie down strap around the tire tread and another time hit the side wall with a dead blow mallet. bead won't pop, w t f?

My Motoz Tractionator did the same thing. About 12 inches was not popping out. I filled it with so much air, thought I was going to blow the tube. Deflated it and sprayed the tire with lots of Windex and used a rubber mallet while slowly adding air, hit the tire were it was not coming out and finally got the rim saver to show. Deflated down to 8 lbs quick. I think the Motoz are just tight. MX51, S12's have been no problem getting on the wheel. I am stoked though, so far have done 6 hard rides and the Motoz still has some tread, unlike the others.
 
after all the aggravation - the mfg confirmed there is NO rim saver on the 100x100x18 (see pic)

18" tire, 18" wheel. My buddy was helping me and he has changed 100's of street and dirt tires and this was his toughest. I was almost ready to pay $20 and go to the dealer, but we didn't give up... It is worth the struggle. Great tire and the braking/traction is awesome.

is it a 100x100? did you read what the mfg said? does your rear bead look like mine?

I can check the size later, but I do have the bead line like yours and I actually put it on twice. First time bead line was showing and then took the whole tube and tire off. Then put it back and the same exact thing. 12 inches of bead line showing. Sucks putting on a rear tire twice!!!

Squirt a lot of Windex on the tire... Then I inflated slowly and every 5 psi added, I used a rubber mallet and hit the tire at an angle away from the bead line. I added so much air that I was ready to put ear protection on because I really thought the tube was going to blow, but then the bead line popped out.

I bought it from Kelly, maybe he can give some advice... It is worth the struggle because on my WR125 a S12 lost knobbies after 2 rides and my MX51 was shot after 4. The Motoz is hanging in there.
 
I had no problems mounting either tire. the issue was the rim saver bead that doesn't exhist on the 100x100. now that rick from motoz confirmed that I'm all set. lesson learned. hopefully this helps out someone else. thank you all for helping out
 
Good on you...I'm sure this will help save someone some aggravation.
