    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Lots of people are always asking what works with what on these Motoz tires and having used all of them now I feel i can make some good recommendations. So...

For dualsport:

Front - Enduro IT front is long lasting and hooks up very well on a variety of terrains.

Rear - Dez HT rear is similar in these regards and very robust tire.

Soft terrain / loam / off road:

Front - the new Terrapactor IT (which was the Tracula front) is a great all around front tire. Love it. the Terrapactor ST is better for deeper mud, and the Enduro ST is also good at deeper mud loam. So real wet stuff Terrapactor ST or Enduro ST, for gerneral winter condition that are not to extreme the Terrapactor IT front.

Rear - Enduro ST. Awesome tire in mud, sand, loam, clay base, etc.

Medium terrain / general use:

Front - Enduro IT. Great all around general use do it all tire.

Rear - X-cir, Enduro IT or Dex HT all work well here and do a good variety of soil types well. The X-cir is just a good all around time, not overly impressive on one thing. The Enduro IT is a good tire, lasts a long time and hooks up good in a variety of stuff. The down side is it seems to wander sided to side a little. Like you are riding in sand all the time. Odd feeling but works well. The Dez HT has recently impressed me with intermediate terrain qualities. Its a good all around tire.

Hard pack:

I have the least experience here.

Front - Enduro IT or Dez HT. The enduro IT will provide more traction when the terrain gets looser. The HT will work better on true hard pack, pavement, rocks etc. Long lasting. Will get loose in softer terrain.

Rear - Dez HT or X-cir. Like the Enduro IT front the X-cir will work better when the hard pack gets looser or IT conditions. the HT is a great all around rear tire for dryer conditions. Works OK in the slop as well with lower pressures.

For the 125 / 144:

Light weight bike needs the right tires.

Front - LOVING the Terrapactor or Terrapactor IT (old tracula) on this bike.

Rear - Terrapactor rear. Lighter weight MX style tire. Works great on the back of the 125/144. Enduro ST rear is also good here.

After getting 800 trouble free miles and great hook up with my Terrapactor rear I finally bit the bullet and mounted up the new one. First ride in an area of sharp shale and destroyed the tire with a very sharp piece that cut clear across the cords on top. :banghead: Well now I know why it is so light weight. I am going to mount up another anyway they work so good.

I need to order some for my son today ( 2010 TC 250) so which one's? Our club land MX is red clay with some round rocks. About half the time the ground is dry and hard packed the other about 2-3" soft mixed. I know it's kind of extream but what do you suggest?

Thats a tough one, Enduro IT front and X-cir rear maybe. What is he running that he likes?
 
The stock tires are Pirelli. They worked well for about 20 hours now the front has very little grip left. I looked on your site and the Tractionator X circuit sounds good so what about them?

thats the rear i recommended above with the Enduro IT front as it is a better all around front tire than the X-cir IMHO.
 
Question about the Enduro IT vs. the Desert HT...

I bought the Enduro ITs and am putting probably way too many street miles on them. The rear tires aren't going to last long. Would a Desert HT hold up much better on the rear, or should I go back to real DS tires?

go back to DS tires. These are not made for a lot of street miles.
 
Having used both myself I will say that the Desert HT is not a bad dualsport tire. I don't do a whole lot of street riding but I logged way more street miles when I had the HT on the back and it seemed to endure that better than the IT. In fact I switched it out for a Tracula about ten months ago with quite a bit of tread left because I wanted a new knobbie for the wet season, now I'm probably going to put it back on that is if I can ever kill this Tracula. I've been trying all summer to wear out this Tracula and it just won't go away. This Tracula has surprised the heck out of me. I've put it through everything from hard rocky terrain to street to gravel roads, mud, loam, you name it, and it's held up. The front Tracula doesn't do street well. The wear pattern is kind of strange but it is an
offroad tire (tyre for those down under) and isn't meant to be used on
pavement.

My front is wearing weird like that, too. They are great tires, but I'm just pissing money away on them with the riding I do.
