  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

More TE 511 Throttle weirdness

I'm riding on the street, I'm coming up to a red light, I drop down through the gears to help me slow.

I come to a dead stop, hand off the throttle and it keeps revving around 4000 rpm and wont fall back to idle for about 5 seconds. Before you ask, yes I have done the disconnect battery rest TPS thing.

Any help would be much appreciated, Regards Vlad

Strange - a little more info - year of bike, new / used? Also - are you in neutral at the time or clutch in while in first gear when this happens?

Hi Henson, thanks for response, TE511 year 2011 bought new 600km on clock. I cycle down to first, clutch in for the last couple of low gears and roll to a stop with revs still going even though I have rolled the throttle off.

Thanks Caiman, Ill try it, but cant go for a ride till tomorrow to test it.

The bike does idle correctly but not when its coming of high speed to stop at a light. That's when its stays at around 4000rpm (to my ear) when completely stationary and then settles down after 5 seconds to a normal idle. Like I said weird, but Ill check the idle screw as you recommend. Cheers Vlad

My 511 has been doing the same thing. Has happened to me about four times. Each time the engine was turned off for a few minutes and then when starting again the issue would occur. Prior to stopping it ran fine. Idle was adjusted but it still seems to be there.
It started after installing fmf exhaust.

I tried a tps reset the other week but was in a bit of a rush so didn't do the second step. Will give it another go.

If that doesn't work, make sure you don't have an intake leak. Check the boots to make sure they are tight and not cracked.

Might sound stupid but my bike did that.
I thought it was TPS or a sticky cable but all it was that the handlebar grip was rubbing and stopping it returning to its stop quickly when released

A great big Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread. It was the air screw.

Mine needed an extra 1/4 turn back out to stop from flaming out at the lights. She's running swweeeeet now. Cheers Vlad

ps its great to have such a brilliant resource such as this forum, so thanks to those who keep this up an running. In the good old days I would have to work it out and screw it up myself.
