A Class
Hey guys,
Well I've been readin this site for a while now, and it seems that there are alot of questions out there that I am in the process of sorting out my self. Well let me start by saying that, about 3 weeks ago I purchased my first new dirt bike. I have been ridin three wheelers and old bikes since I was 6, finally reached the point that I can get what I want. So, about a year ago I started lookin at new bikes and the Husky's just made my jaw drop, like that Fiat commercial. Any way, I am 5'6 give or take, so, to begin I was lookin at the TE310 it seemed like it would have been a great bike. I went to the dealer and was checking the 2012 out and saw out of the corner of my eye that the dealer had some 11's left over, didn't think much of it. Well, I went home and was doin some thinking and reading and that most of the 310 guys said they are great for single track and they like to be rev'd. Well that is not my style to much, as most of the trail I ride are quad trails. So, then I remembered that there was one TXC449 left over. Next day I go back to the dealer and buy the thing. First off, this thing was tall. I could barely touch the ground. Any way, I broke it in and then the first thing I did was have the suspension lowered 2", revalved and resprung. What an improvment, that was the best thing I could have done. Second, I am about to install the TE lights and switches to make this bike streetable. I have heard that some say this is a pain but, in PA, all motorcycles come with a title from the DMV, and unless they say that they are competition only they get a plate, already got mine. Just need the lights and horn.
I am not really sure what the difference between the 310 and 449 are handling wise but this thing is increadible. I know that I am comin off of some old equipment but I don't see the down sides that I have read about in the mags. The EFI is spot on, no pops no flame outs, not what I've read about the "orange kool aid". Next, for the thousands less than a new 310 or KTM equivalant, i can get a set of super moto wheels and have 2 bikes for less still. Any way, I was wondering has anyone installed the TE dash to the TXC, I would like to do this but the schematics lost a lot in translation, also, the wiring harness is the only part I have found to be overpriced at this point, the lights and plastics seem to have great prices. If not I will probably go with the Trail Tech Vappor unless it is not worth the extra money, any one have one of those and what do ya think of it?
I read in a post earlier about someone asking about the 250 TE suspension vs the 310 for 12. The 250 has a different rear shock part number stamped in it, I checked, I am not sure of the front forks I couldn't find a number on them when I was looking, but, I would think they just have different internals. Main point is that the links appeared to be the same though.
