  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

    Thanks for your patience and support!

I'm new and don't want to seem like a whiny bitch...But, can there be subtopics under 4Stroke like TE449/TE511 ? there are over 600 screens of postings under 4Stroke that is a bit difficult to track and weed through.

Mike, If you go to the top of the 4-Stroke world you will find a 449/511 Guide Topic with links. For now we are trying to use that system to help people get started by bike line, and supplement the search function. I will work up one for the X Lites soon.

And you're not the first one to make such a request....

I think it's about the bigger picture. Soon there will be a whole new world in here and who knows how many changes after that. Coffee's probably like the rest of us and waiting to see what comes out. My vote is still for a Bastard Beemer section though :)

Lets see, that would put the 449/511 and the TRs together?....its a classification system, I can say that. How long before we can slide the 610 into Vintage?

But the models I listed will still be in existence regardless of where we put the Bergs with new stickers.

I too find this forum a little hard to navigate. I'm really only interested in threads pertaining to my model. This is a useful forum , and I'm glad its here, so I hope this comment is taken constructively.

Exactly. I really do not want this site to have a huge amount of places to put things either, because it looks bad, and to minimize the amount of work the moderators would have to do.

Nothing against ktmtalk, at all, but they have a huge amount of nooks & crannies.

Another issue is the sub forums - for any of them to be of any value at all they all need to show up on the front page... so doing this does not work:
4st -> 449/511
4st -> tr650
4st -> 610/630

But this does:
Husqvarna Bikes -> 4st
Husqvarna Bikes -> tr650
Husqvarna Bikes -> 610/630

What I typed probably does not make any sense, go to the front page and look at Vintage, this does not work because people are always posting in the incorrect spot, specifically normal threads are being put into the Vintage Restoration Projects that should go into Vintage/Left Kickers:

But this does work, people are successfully choosing the correct spot to put their thread about 99% of the time. The biggest problem is that Common Topics occasionally mistaken with 'Common Bike Issues' i.e. people want to know if their issue that they have is a common problem:

How about a section for "Bikes that I just bought for $7499 are now $4999 just three months later!!!"

No, I'm not bitter. LMAO!

How about a section for "Hell yes KTM will make these bikes ready off the floor!" section?

I would not worry about KTM Talk structure as this site replacing KTM Talk has a very small chance of happening. Just make it appealing enough to KTM Talk users that they may wander over here and post a bit too.

To be honest, I do not read this forum anymore. Everything moves so fast off the first page and there is so much off-topic, that unless it is a thread started by Tinken, then I am reluctant to even open it.

I don't think going off topic is to bad, it's a discussion, that's what happens lol. When it gets negative though is when it becomes a downer but it seems most people here squash it relatively quick. I've spent a ton of time on forums for about 10 years and this is the best. I also like that its kept clean and I don't need to worry about my kids looking over my shoulder.
Changes are made as needed. There are bike specific portions of this forum but now just isn't the time. Waiting to see exactly what happens makes sense. KTM talk has a lot of different sections and it makes it a PITA. There's just to much. KTM talk is great in its own right but I just prefer this.
The new section I'd like to see is an "other bikes" part. People can speak freely about other bikes without it being a big deal because that's what it's there for. Not to mention we'll have people leave because of KTM and it'd be nice to keep them around.
