  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I installed the CV4 red hoses from my MY11 TE310, onto the MY13 bike. The new temp bulb for the fan is OEM located on the RHS just below the RHS rad spigot. With the config of the CV4 hoses that spot would not work. I cut the vert section of the hose on the LHS so the temp unit would install just above the lower elbow from the pump. This allows clearance from the fuel tank as well as clearance from the rear of the rad. The thing(unit ) is quite large but it fits perfectly in this spot and the pigtail wire to the main harness allows plenty of loop length for the wire hook up. I ran the wire under the main frame tube above the cyl head cover to meet the harness connector onto the RHS of the bike. After the install I added my preferred ZipTy nonaqueous coolant (Evans) for a bullet proof cooling system. To complete the deal I also installed my Enduro Engineering rad guards and a old section of CV4 red hose to the hose section under the header area as a doubler to help prevent stick and cactus spine penetrations. RN

Another little thing done, is my standard index to all the hose clamps, out of "harms way" so there is no chance for them to get snagged on brush. I dont like them hanging out They are all tucked and flipped out of the way.

We need to see pictures of all the upgrades.

Robert, what did you use on your last bike for stator wire/grommet oil weapage?

Just silicone?

D,
I use threebond 1211 (white stuff) exclusively as my standard RTV of choice. And yes my 2013 had weepage of oil around the stator wire grommet and I just sealed that in this "prep" evolution. R

add-on I use threebond 1104 when we do case sealing.

of course before the RTV treatment a really good solvent clean up first.
